Heading to osoyoos next weekend with the kids so I need a family friendly place. Does anyone have a favorite spot? Prefer by a lake and not too rowdy. Lots of mixed review on most places I've looked at. First time camping in Osoyoos, usually on lake Okanagan and Skaha, so would love a little imput. Good spots for fishing and wheelin' would be appreciated too.
thanks, Matt

Re: osoyoos camping spots
Pretty much anything next to the lake is crowded at this time of year, and if you get any more than one kilometer from the lake you're in the desert! Okay, technically it's a "shrub steppe" but it's pretty dag-gummed dry and hot just the same!
Which is why everyone crowds around the lake.
If you can find the space, it's a great time. We camped in a little "campsite" right on the eastern side of the lake, somewhere along Lakeshore Drive. Waterslides are just up the road, and then of course there is the whole lake.

Re: osoyoos camping spots
I have family friends who stay here every summer for a few weeks.
http://www.campingosoyoos.com/
It's a family orientated campground and has all amenities you'd need. It's not cheap but that's relative to how much you would like to spend.
It's right on the water. Gorgeous in the summer time.

Gyro Beach is the city beach, nice beach and it's well kept. The city controls the transients, keeping things safe for the kids. Haynes point is probably the best area in Osoyoos to camp. Your not able to camp at Gyro. Dogs are not allowed on the beach during the summer season. If Haynes is full, check out Walnut beach. They have a closed off area to the public. It's located off the lakeshore Blvd.
Osoyoos is very busy this time of year. Hottest lake in the interior is the Osoyoos lake, you will not find peace and tranquility this time of the year.
Have Fun,
Cheers

Re: osoyoos camping spots
Thanks for the imput guys. Nki'mp is the one that a friend recommended but most reviews I have read have been horrible. But I suppose it's usually the bad experiences that get reported the most. We will probably go there then scope the scene, opposed to making a reso and being stuck somewhere we're not that stoked on. Will make a report when we get back. If you see a '90 l300 cruising the wineries be sure to wave. Cheers everyone!

Re: osoyoos camping spots
Nki'mp is a typical RV campground that is very spread out. The sites are close together and there isn't much room for privacy. It's definitely not a camping in the wilds campground but it's right on the water, has a convenience store, fruit orchards walking distance to buy/pick fresh fruit and lots of families. Long weekend is a gong show but others should be fine.
