I'm glad all of the mechanics I've had work on my Delica have allowed me to watch and have gone as far as to explain what they're doing!

at least when they do not perform the service they do not strip the oil pan bolt.
This is why I do my own repairs.....

In my experience, the toughest part in car maintenance is to find an honest mechanic.

exactly
There are hundreds of video captures like the OP's jiffy lube clip on youtube.
They zeroed in on Jiffy Lube because you see them everywhere and the bill tops out at a few hundred.
The worst one's are the service shops that charge thousands and lie about what was done/replaced.
Jiffy lube has management levels that can correct this problem while individual shops do not.
Those are the real threat.

My father was a mechanic for years.
He replaced all the bushes in the front end and took it to have the front aligned.
The manager came out and informed him that the front end was in a dangerously poor state and needed immediate repairs.
They told him it wasn't safe to leave the shop.
What's wrong he asked.
The bushes have all perished and need to be replaced.
He said that is a problem,I only replaced them yesterday.
What they didn't know was my father worked for the RACV(roadside call out people)
It didn't work out well for that business.
regards David

What do you expect when they have maybe one certified mechanic on floor, and the rest are all kids making maybe 14 an hour being told to change oil in less than five minutes without any mistakes. I know, in highschool I applied at a Mr Lube. Two people in my immediate family were inconvenienced by a Mr Lube location as both times they forgot to put the oil cap back on and made a huge freaking mess of the engine bay both times. They did pay for the engine shampooing though...
It makes you really appreciate a place like CVI or Autofriends in burnaby.
