My brother is eagerly awaiting his 1996, L400 from Mardy. He's stoked because it just arrived in port 2 days ago. Anyway, he lives in Vernon and is wondering who/where is the preferred mechanic/shop for Okanagan Deli owners?
PS: Hoping to sell my F-150 and join the Deli owners club soon myself.

Really? 41 views and not one Deli owner from the Okanagan can tell me where they get their vehicle serviced, or make a recommendation? The valley is lousy with Deli's! Somebody's gotta know.

Sorry, I don't trust anyone in the valley to work on my Deli without getting overcharged since it is a 'special vehicle'. I would only take it to Mardy or to CVI for anything major. Outside of that, I do everything myself.

Every mechanic I have been to for any type of vehicle in the Okanagan from Penticton to Vernon has been horrible. As such there is no recomendations I can give.

What kind of servicing are you talking about? Major repairs like engine/trans or just regular maintanance service like oil and fileter changes? If the later, if you do not wish to do it yourself really any place can do an oil change, though you might have to supply the oil filter as they are an uncommon item.

Dennis_Lambert in Kelowna sells parts (great selection, good prices, I just bought lots of stuff this weekend from him) and ships via greyhound. He doesnt do service, he owns a L300 and L400 and has general mechanical knowledge. His parts website is http://nomadjdmautopartsca.ipage.com

I don't know the okanagan mechanics, some non-vancouver people come stay with us in Burnaby and get annual maintenance while they are in town. I know several deli's in Kelowna area, but they do a lot of their own maintenance.

Since brother is buying from Mardy, who is one of the top delica experts, I strongly suggest getting mardy or mardy's recommended contacts to service the van before taking it to vernon. You don't want an inexperienced mechanic overtightening something. It is so much easier to fix things here, there are several experts, all the parts are here (if one mechanic doesnt have X part, he just phones one of the other local mechanics to get the needed part).

Your brother should organize a mini meet in vernon soon (and find somewhere that out of towners can park overnight) so he can meet others. We just let people park in our backyard, first arrival gets the guest bedroom, next arrival gets the liviing room floor, after that they sleep in their vans.
