Thinking to buy.

Hi! I have an opportunity to buy 1995 Delica from my mechanic. I trust him absolutely, but know very little about this vehicle. Need your input. It has 170000Km. Sky roof, awning, tint, chrome bumpers, looks very good... asking price $8000, seams a bit high. Any info will be appreciated. I have kayaks and bikes, looking for dissent 4x4.

Seems a bit high to me, given the mileage, but mileage isn't everything.
You could find a fresh import with lower mileage for that price.
However, look at the condition of the vehicle, the engine especially. See if you can take it to a specialist, like CVI, for an inspection before you buy it.
Find out what sort of work/maintenance has been done, what sort of upgrades have been done, perhaps it is worth the asking price...

I can trust my mechanic, but price is too high. I found several vans with mileage under 100000 for similar price.

I need info about vehicle. How easy is it to maintain, is it hard to find parts, etc. I understand that you will recommend this van simply because you are happy with your choice.

Parts are easy to come across as long as you know where to look. Mileage on that bus is still quite low and in fact it is probably in better shape than the one with less than 100,000km on it. The problem with low km's is that you don't know if the van was driven very little each year but was driven consistently or if it was driven a lot early in it's life and then sat for years without moving. I'd say for a 20 year old vehicle, close to 200,000km is good. The average person in Canada drives about 20,000km a year which should put a typical vehicle at 400,000km at this point.
Keep in mind that this is only a guideline and as suggested before, you will want to take it in to get a second opinion.

Congratulations! Do you have a name for her yet?
So is it an L300 Super Exceed or an L400 Super Exceed? L300 has the 2.5 4D56T Astron engine, The L400 has the 4M40 ITD.

Very nice looking L400. Keep an eye out for a mini meet in Events-Lower Mainland. Mini meets are an excellent place to meet other Delica owners ~ that's where a lot of information is shared.
Congratulations again, Zavgor ~ nice looking machine... smiles.
