Looking for a suggestion for a camping place

Two people, one Delica, one dog, and a few days mid-week at the end of July are looking for a camping spot in nature, somewhere in BC, not overly far from Vancouver (Vancouver island, Gulf islands, interior BC, etc).

The dog needs to be near water in hot days, and doesn't care whether it is ocean, river, or lake. The people prefer ocean. All of us prefer less crowds, hence Mussel Beach campground behind Ucluelet or Ruckle part on Saltspring island might not be the best options. The BC Forest Service campground guide has various spots, though I don't remember any being by the ocean.

It would be great to have a combination of hanging out and also some hikes in the area, wherever it might be.

Would appreciate any ideas or suggestions.

Hi FB, how about Merrit area, we know some sites about 20 to 30 minutes out of Merrit, on rivers. Merrit is nice as the public pool has nice showers and hot tubs to keep clean in. Smaller paved roads to explore on day trips. Just canoed several sections last week, water was very high but should be down to normal soon as the snow has melted fast in this hot spell. Get a PFD for doggie jus in case, as the waters everywhere are at 20 year highs, and doggies get stress heart attacks from swimming exertion same as humans do when swimming harder than usual. PM me, or stop by the house to see maps, for actual locations. Christine.

I always like 20 Mile Bay particularly during weekdays. Just watch out for logging truck on the way in. Here is the website:

Englishman River Falls Provincial Park and campground - a little off the highway and not nearly as full as Rathtrevor.

Have you considered the Sunshine Coast? There's Porpoise Bay Provincial Park and Roberts Creek Provincial Park plus some back-country areas to get into. I will be up there for the last week of July and first week of August if you wanna drop by.
Cheers!
