We just picked up a great L400. I would like to replace the stock shocks with some ranchos but am having a hell of a time figuring out which ones to order? Any one know the length (s) / part number (s)

front 14.5 stroke length
rear 23.5 stroke length

In my opinion, you would be better off with Procomp or Bilstein's than Rancho's unless you sandblast and repaint the Rancho shock body. They are prone to rusting. However, there are people riding on Rancho's and love them. Personal preference.

ECS - ride height adjustment. It comes stock on Royal Exceeds, most Super and some base Exceed's. You'll see the ECS button beside the hazard light button in the middle of the dash. Also the ECS shocks are pin top/eye bottom. The non-ECS shocks are eye top/eye bottom.

Procomp part numbers

Front : 914510
Rear : 923510 (ECS) / 923509 (non-ECS)

You'll need 5/8 poly bushings to replace the rubber one's that come with the procomp's. Part number : PV2028

Bilstein part numbers

Front : F4-B46-2109
Rear : F4-B46-2111 (ECS) / F4-B46-2110 (non-ECS)

The Bilstein's will have the best ride. The HD Bilstein shocks are suited specifically for the L400's. They are amazing shocks.

Where can I order the Bilsteins from? I'm having a hard time finding them on the net. The part number is not matching up anywhere.

I'm not sure about finding them in Canada/US. I got mine from the UK.

I picked up Procomps from LOrdco they only gave me one set of bushings? Should I order another pair?

you should replace all four (ECS shocks) or six (non-ECS shocks) rubber hourglass rubber bushings.

You didn't say what you have and how many bushings you received. Can't read minds.

I just got myself a set of Procomps, based on the part numbers above, and a full set of 5/8" poly bushings.

After removing one of the rear shocks, I noticed that the bushing is too small on the Procomp. The inner diameter on the 5/8" bushing is indeed 5/8" but hen I slid the metal 'sleeve' (unsure of proper name) inside of the bushing. The sleeve's ID of 1/2" is too small to fit over the mounting bolt on the van.

Am I missing something? The sleeve I used came with the shocks. Should I reuse the sleeve that's already on the van? The stock shock (it's stock, it has ESC) has a much larger bushing. The 'eye', into which it fits on the shock, is much larger than the Procomp's.

A little advice would be appreciated.

My next shock replacement will not be with Procomps nor Rancho's
The procomps that I put on my L300 were a pain, started leaking
within a year. The Rancho's just didn't ride well.

So when I do my L400 I'll be looking at other brands.
Im probably going to start with KYB if I can get a proper cross-reference.

I've had KYB's on a different vehicle and really liked them. If you find a cross for L400 ECS I would be VERY interested.

I can feel every bump, crack, hole in the road, so I "feel" like it's time for a shock replacement. Luckily my super exceed doesn't have the ECS.

Has anyone found Bilstein's in Canada/US?

If I use these part numbers for a stock L400 WITHOUT ECS, can I then cross reference them to see what other applications would work? i.e. KYB, Monroe, etc?
