Greetings! My name is Ross and I have recently purchased a 1990 Mitsu Vanwagon. It has the 4G64, automatic trans and it's 2wd(as all of the U.S. versions are). I purchased this Vanwagon to use as a road trip vehicle for myself and my family. My wife and I want to take our two daughters on trips to see the world(or so to speak). I was wondering if there is anyone who know if the 4wd parts from a Delica are a bolt on conversion, and has anyone swapped in the diesel from a Delica?

Welcome. There are a few US vanwagon owners on this forum. :M

The only way to put the JDM Delica 4x4 drivetrain into a NA Vanwagon would be with major frame, driveline modifications with welding/fabricating,etc...

Search will come up with these questions :

Most of the body conversion has been completed and the vehicle basically requires the running gear putting in and finishing. The owner was on the forum but due to the amount of time it took to find a body shop that was willing to take on the complex job of converting the vehicle the owner has fallen off the face of the earth. I have about $7000 invested in this project and figure another $2-3 k would complete it so that it is a fully legal `Delica` on US roads, no illegal import or grey area, just a LHD US registered van that has been modified. If interested in this project, please call 250-927-4536 or email ccautos@telus.net for more details and 100`s of pictures of progress and parts van. Thanks, Glen

Welcome to the forum! :-D I am also in Washington State & have wondered the very same thing about the Mitsu wagons. I would love to own a Delica, but for many reasons, I must wait :-(
