Stolen L300

Had my pride and joy stolen from outside my house this morning.

If anyone spots it please call the police. It's a 1993 low roof, two tone gray, lic. # SUS385. I've spent a lot of money making this into my perfect vehicle, but at this point I'm not even sure I want it back! It will have one of the rear side windows missing as that's the only thing they left behind.
Thanks for letting me vent!

That just sucks!!!! I will keep an eye out for it. I didn't think the Delica's were too much of a theft target (at least here in Calgary). Too easy to spot, no market for parts, etc. etc. Probably some low life just taking it for a lark.
good luck.
Rod

Hi Trecar: The van was parked at my home in Inglewood, near the community center - usually a very quiet area. Thanks, I appreciate your help.
Norm.

That would make me feel good - maybe we could take turns when my arm gets tired?

That is sad news Norisan! I am sorry to hear about this! As Drrod says, I am also surprised this would happen here in Calgary with this type of vehicle. It would definitely stand out in a crowd if it has been left somewhere or being driven and our trained Delica spotting eyes would notice it much easier. Definitely keeping an eye out and hoping for a safe return of your beloved bus. I will spread the word at this weekends Delica Club excursion too.... the more eyes the better.
I can't say enough how low I think the people are who think it's okay to take other people's hard earned stuff while they steal their way thru life. I wish the punishment for this type of crime was more harsh or we were legally able to render our own judgement on them when caught. Perhaps if the general public were better enabled to fight crimes againt their person (in the right way), this type of crime would diminish... perhaps. Having been a victim of several uninsured thefts in the past, including my modified freestyle jetski, I understand where you are coming from.
Keep your chin up, man!

Woah that is like not can't describe the sukiness of it. I wouder what kind of idiot would stole a Delica. Like in Vancouver it doesn't stop the show anymore but everywhere else in Canada, having a Delica is a statement so if the thief wanted to be seen, he certainly picked the right truck. It's like the folks with weeding cans on their ride, they want to get noticed. What a bunch of amateur.
Good luck in finding your truck or in geting your insurance, maybe with that you'll be able to buy a very nice L400, do a little trip in Vancouver, meet so Deli folks, enjoy the ocean, stop in the rockies for the view, ski at Lake Louise. See, life as always good side, like having a newer L400.
Cheer up mate, it suck for sure but you're still alive!
Antoine

Thanks for all the kind thoughts guys, it has made me feel a whole lot better - what a great forum

I didn't mention before that my garage door opener was in the van so the low lifes also walked away with about $600 worth of tools. But we will rebuild!!

Sorry for the delay in updating but I had nothing to report until today - police called just this morning to say they found it in N.E. Calgary - must have been sitting on the street for the last three weeks with a missing side window. Have no idea of the condition but it was towed to the impound lot. At this point it's up to the insurance company to take over as they still hadn't paid it out. I'll update this when I have more info - not too impressed with the Insurance Co up to now, lots of ignored phone calls and lots of foot dragging.

Glad to hear it's located at least. I try to be anal about not leaving my garage opener in the van... lots of good stuff in that garage!
As for the insurance company: they are all scum and their priority is NOT customer service; it's to find as many ways as possible to pay the least possible. Work 'em bro.
Hope all works out,
Erik.

Went to visit my baby at the impound lot. Not too much visible damage; Front door lock was butchered, dent in the rear door, Gas tank was empty - full when I parked it, Steering wheel seems to be stuck but ignition key still fits and of course the rear drivers side window is gone. Didn't spend too much time investigating as the impound employee was not keen on being outside in minus 25. Still no word from the insurance co!

Finally got my van back from the body shop - it's been there six weeks, but I have to admit the insurance co. did me proud. As well as the repairs they also cleaned the interior, oil and filter change, four wheel alignment, transmission oil change and general mechanical check up. I was thinking about selling it, but after driving it again I remembered how much fun it is; also I see another Yukon/ Alaska trip in it's future!
