Well she's almost all sanded down. Lots of metal on her, took three of us all day and she's just over half way. Still need to put on the flares and finish the door. Then of course put the interior back in.....I didn't lable anything thinking it would be a quick job and the was no need because I could remember where everything went.. (I already know I was wrong!!)

Interesting "sliding" door 8-)

before you paint have you thought of swapping out the headlights and taillights?

Headlights early 4 light setup (mines a 1989 and has them) uses standard lights you can get anywhere in the world.

Taillights I would use standard LED transport truck lights. Again you can get anywhere on the planet. (or atleast put a set in the bumper in case the originals get knocked off).

This is most definitely a VERY valid point: the round lens with flaky-peeling-reflective-backing is a terrible setup, and if you could change it out now it would be best. Check the forum and read about how most of us were unhappy with the '88 and beyond headlight, while practically no-one from the pre-'88 crowd ever complains about their lights.

Kinda like my SWB Pajero with its 7" round headlights: plenty of Jeeps running around on this continent, I shouldn't have any trouble getting new headlights. The LWB with its formed headlights and bulbs? A little different story if the lens should become damaged.

Just a thought before you get all the pretty paint in place.

Fender flares? Metal welded to metal? That would be best, and most cool. More expensive, understood, but still cooler than bolted on plastic ones.

I too noticed the hint of a "sliding" door - SSSAAAWEEEEEEEEEET!

I guess I should check my enthusiasim and photos before posting.

Fender flares are a combination of metal and fibreglass.
As for the lights, I'm sticking with what I have, I have close to a 1,000,000 candle power on the lightbar when I need it, Plus a couple more lights coming on the new and enhanced bush bar. The truck will have 10 additional lights on it facing pretty much every direction.

Hopefully you are not using actual candles as 1,000,000 sounds like a lot!

What are you using for an alternator? Or did you get a deal on LED lights?

If that door is hinging as it would appear from the picture how would people get into the back when parked next to another vehicle? Your project looks amazing, I can't wait to see the finished product and the pictures from your upcoming journey!

When you drive what essentially amounts to a limo, creative parking is par for the course.

Okay, so you've definitely welded-over the sliding bar for the sliding door...

I like the stepped roof thing going on there.

Other than dusty-sanded-primer-coat have you decided on a colour scheme? Or are you going to - BAM - hit us with that one later?
