Silicone spray from Crappy Tire, usually on sale for $4 or $5 I think. This really helps with stopping the door seals freezing the door closed in the winter.

I like to use this rubber treatment. The foam makes it easy to make sure you get everywhere you want it and it doesn't run to places you don't want it. A can is a lot more than $5 but it does last a long time.

In for regular service plus new rotors and pads, repacking front wheel bearings and, best of all, the lads adjusted the driver's window - I always just assumed the whistle was because the door's rubber seal was worn out... :? What an improvement - I felt like I was in a sound-proof box on the drive home!

I don't know about the rest of you but on windy days (like today in Vancouver) the wind comes in through the gap in the front doors - I can actually feel it. So I put on some door trip to cut down the breeze (just on the leading edge of the front 2 and sliding door) That is where the biggest gap is.

It seemed to help somewhat, but it really needs some insulating of some kind.

Added the connector cord for the front curtains (between cab and passenger area). Just gotta do a bit more sewing.

Well i got up early left Gold bridge with my trailer hooked up to Naramata to pick up a ATV.
Route 40 to Lillooet was a disaster. Black ice and falling rock everywhere took me more then 3 hrs.
the rest of the drive was Ok untill 60 km away from Peachland on Hyw 97 when the left tire of the trailer flew off . All the bolts broke off. All seizes up. I left the trailer on the side of the road on the snow bank. Wondering if it is worthwhile to have tow and repair it or try to find a used one for sale around Kelowna. Need to bring back that ATV. Danm trailer! never had luck with them
That was my day with my delica

After not starting earlier this week due to -15+C, dropped in a new battery in my L400, 850CCA. Also bought heavy duty jumper cables to replace the light duty Motomaster (ugh) cables. The motomaster cables have been adapted to be a clothes line in my basement. Waste not want not!

Cheers

I blew my valve cover gasket today!
A friend was following me and said I was pushing a lot of blue smoke.
And sure enough just the smallest bit of pedal pressure and I was puffin away. :o :o :o the blue stuff :o :o :o

So after about three aneurisms in three seconds I pop the hood and find my breather hose pinched.
I pulled out my K&N air (cone type ) filter a few days ago for cleaning and reinstalled my stock filter and housing to test for any performance changes but left on the longer hose that I needed for the K&N and it got pinched when I closed the hood.

So lesson learned , my oil level was only down a 4 or 5 mm on the dipstick and I didn't do any hwy driving in the past week so I don't think I damaged anything but was was a nice shiny engine is now black and gooey. Surprised that there is enough pressure to make that much of a mess. And I'm surprised it was pushing oil thru the motor and not just past the gasket

This would probably be a good time for a sea foam treatment I guess.

Any advise on damage I should be looking for?

cheers

Still working on the curtains (work in progress and aren't really needed till we go camping)...

But added some less polite horns - 2 Fiamm's that run at 125/132 dB. I found the original horns were just to polite (ie: Japanese) so I bolted on these babies. Should do better at getting peoples attention when they cut us off.

Replaced burnt front t-sig and since I was there decided to remove the front-side signal cover. The gaskets are old and there was moisture inside. A blow-dryer and some silicone should fix it before it gets all corrodie.

I installed new front and rear speakers yesterday. I had to get creative with the rear speaker mounting because I purchased 5.25" and the factory speakers were 6.5". No one had a size chart or application guide for my van. I cut the basket and magnet off the old speaker and used the "mounting ring" from it to sandwich the new speaker to the mount. I used a lid from a margarine container to fill the air gap between the hole and the speaker. Sounds great!! here are some pics:ImageImage

Last thursday I felt the same thing, decided enough.
Went to the supply place for autobody shops and bought some rubber trim stuff
for the driver door. Cost me $33 after tax.
No more breeze or whistle if the wind is coming the wrong way.

changed burned out headlight bulb.
sourced a lower control arm and found someone to do the work
finally used some 2 stroke oil in with my fill up... seems to start smoother and idle smoother, too. who knew?

I finally got to add some washer fluid to my pull-out washer bottle, as well as the rear one, too. This is the first time I've done this ~ at this rate I should be doing this again in another four years ~ these reservoirs seem to last forever, well, four years anyway. I nearly forgot how to do it.

swapped out all the fluids to redline - whole drivetrain is much quieter after the drive to whistler and shifts smoother
removed old JAOS mudflaps and replaced them with fresh rubber slightly wider - less road sludge on the doors
