Speaking of Mel Brooks; here's one I like to pass around to the family around Easter time. I always, always get a laugh out of this one. A true classic!

Ford has announced plans to acquire French automaker Renault and
engineering teams have already joined forces to create the perfect small
car for women.

Mixing the Renault "Clio" and the Ford "Taurus", they have designed the
"Clitaurus".

It comes in pink and the average male car thief won't be able to find
it, let alone turn it on, even if someone tells him where it is and how
to do it.

Rumour has it though, that it leaks transmission fluid once a month and
can be a real bitch to start in the morning!

Some have reported that on cold winter mornings, when you really need
it, you can't get it to turn over.

New models are initially fun to own, but very costly to maintain and
horribly expensive to get rid of.

Used models may initially appear to have curb appeal and a low price,
but eventually have an increased appetite for fuel, and the curb weight
typically increases with age.

Manufacturers are baffled as to how the size of the trunk increases, but
say that the paint may just make it LOOK bigger.

This model is not expected to reach collector status.

Most owners find it is best to lease one, and replace it as needed.

I used to get short term leases, 2-3 years but the last one I got sucked into a 10 year lease with a contract the size of a phone book and writting so small you need binoculars to read.

I have to get this off my chest..
FLAMING & ABUSE
Please, no messages that harass, insult, belittle, or threaten another member.
I guess we can ban pretty much ban all the dealers, Jesse and CVI unfortunately. They love to take little jabs and personal attacks belittling each other in with passive aggressive insults. Its really childish behavior. This is what happens when you have competitors on the board fighting for reputation AND hundreds of thousands in sales.. IT DOES NOT WORK... Especially when you have a keyboard warrior like Jesse that stops at nothing to have the last word. Every forum has a couple, and they usually butt heads and end up ruining it for the rest.

To Steven and very rarely Mardy; I am also a business owner. When I go do a quote for a job, do you think it is appropriate for all the competitors to show up at once, and then argue about each others work, quality of suppliers, business practices, past conflicts, warranty, and a heap of other problems in person in front of the customer NEVER MIND YOUR WHOLE POTENTIAL CUSTOMER BASE???? Its really immature, inappropriate, and will always leaves the customer feeling uneasy with a bad taste in their mouth. Just like the recent warranty conflicts between other customers, Steven. Not smart on your part. There are people out there that will pay double for a product to have proper service that doesn't leave you needing a breath mint.

Steven, it really sounds like you're figuring all of this as you go which is fine, but having it all published on a public forum makes it even harder for you to earn your reputation. In my eyes, you lose it over and over again and then have to perform an outstanding service for one client, have them write a bouquet allowing you to link to the thread indefinitely, I see right through that shit, not to mention making up your policy as you go along. We ALL see through that. Also you're dragging other members and dealers into it by your simple lack of respect for the community and blatant over-posting your products and services. This is a member forum, not a retailer forum. Falco, you may as well sell out and have ad-links on all the words and such and even more banners and help pay towards retirement, its the same bloody thing.

To the dealers and Jesse; Don't get me wrong, you guys have all helped me (would never go to Steven, sorry guy, you're postings are a parasite to this forum) one time or another for anything from service to parts to winching my stuck ass. However you are seriously undermining the point of this community. May I remind you is also your main form of advertising and revenue? Go continue spaming craigslist or pay for your own damn advertising on google instead, like everybody else. Shame on you, nothing is free. "If you want to keep up with the big dogs, you gotta stop pissin' like a pup!" There are other dealers that are smart and have stayed away from this site and they will do just fine without it regardless of the quality of service or lack there of.

Falco, to clean this place up I suggest you make a 'ask a dealer'/'vendors' section in the delica trader or on this site. From there they can give whatever tech advice they want to only the person inquiring, sell a complete overhaul to someone that doesn't need it, who cares either way, their business, not ours, not Jesse's. Other members cannot post once the thread is started, and the dealers cannot post on delica.ca Solved. If Jesse and dealers want to undermine each other destroying customer confidence they can do it over PM and leave the rest of this out of it. It has been suggested before, and is a good idea as every other automotive forum, or forums that bring a great deal of revenue to the vendors of the hobby, have that set up to eliminate these problems. They are inevitable when literally millions in combined sales are at stake.

Honestly, even after hearing of great service and trucks from Mardy and lots of parts/vehicles from Rising Sun, I certainly will not be doing business with Steven due to the constant spam 'Flaming and Abuse' displayed over the past few years, you too Mardy, just not as common.. Bravo guys, bravo. I know Im not alone on this..

(CVI will always get my love, but they're not a retailer and are often caught in the middle as the voice of reason, plus butch has the best passive aggressive jabs lol :)

Was this posted here or another section first??? When it gets moved here from other sections I wish the administrators would indicate that it was moved first (if it was)....I would suggest this in the suggestion section, but figure the administrators can ignore here just as well.

Pajerry - Have to agree with you for the most part. I hardly visit the forum anymore because of the constant jabbing and self promotion. We were free of this crap for a long time in the beginning - it was a really nice place to hang out. The tone of this community has changed, thanks to a handful of smug sh**disturbers. Conflicts have always occurred here, like in any community of individuals. But now unfortunately, it has become the Jesse vs RSI show. It has spoiled nearly every corner of this forum. I know I am not alone in this - so many of the early positive contributors are gone now, or rarely post at all - like Felix, who's epic journey to the tip of south america should be enjoyed vicariously by us all, but who now only shares directly with whom he chooses (last update from Oaxaca).

Business owners take note of how CVI has completely managed to be free of all the mudslinging by not slinging mud and not shamelessly self promoting. A good reputation has to be earned by good service, honesty, and tact. A good reputation has to spread on it's own, by satisfied clients. Self promotion, on a community forum like this is always off-putting.

Agreed. With all the vendors back then it was all harmonious. Hopeful the new year brings some mutual positive changes in people here. Rehashing the last year is probably best left as a dead horse at this point.

Whoa!
Kowabunga.... But good and well thought out points all the same, Pajerry. As entertaining as it has been, from time to time, it is getting tiresome. The thing is, there are many people who like Jesse's posts but don't like Steven's. On the other side of the token there are a lot of people who like Steven's advice and complain about Jesse. From an administration point of view we must honour the gander as well as the goose ~ we could break out the flying daggers and slaughter anyone standing on the battlefield but that is not a pleasant way of dealing with things, especially considering the nature of the club (positive contribution).

The problem with having a community like this is it really leaves the site open for abuse when courtesy is not respected. In fact it can potentially leave the community open to an hostile take-over by small groups of people whom are too lazy to build their own site. Consider it this way ~ Have you ever read a book called "Zen And The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance"? Delica Canada is much like the vehicle, a Zen model of balance. Whatever one does to it will affect a reaction ~ but there are people who don't think out modifications; will still drive it into the ground; refuse to change the oil but still complain when it breaks.

The benefit of a site like this is when it is respected it is the perfect society ~ but it does depend on a polite society with responsible adult behavior. The choice is the member's.

Regarding that last observation, I must commend you on your heart felt, honest and yet respectful remarks. I am also appreciative that you posted it in the Last Word Cafe.

Peace,

Falco.

The administrators really have the ultimate choice of the direction this site goes towards. Before summer of 2010, the forum was bustlin' with members and vendors alike, free and wild just how you like Falco.. no restraints and completely open and transparent. It was a good time to be involved up to your elbows.
FalcoColumbarius wrote:In fact it can potentially leave the community open to an hostile take-over
During that summer, the forum took a different direction in form of aggressive advertising and was considered to be a hostile takeover. Responsibility fell upon the forum administrators and moderators to resolve it. Unfortunately, it grew to the point of irritation and eventually led to the head butting last year when shit hit the fan and I was one of the main antagonizers. Pajerry's terminology aka keyboard warrior is well suited. I've got to admit and take that like a man.

Other than my loudness at times, there was always my norm to help and create and mod things delica-ish. I've shed the prior and kept the later due to a recent brush with the other side of life but frankly, I'm 100% certain that one member's change has zero effect on any direction this forum takes which is currently riddled with advertising and soliciting.

Most of the old timers have been around for over 4 years. This place was to gather and share, not to advertise or use as a business crutch like it has in recent times. I have a hard time seeing this forum going back to how it used to be without removing what changed it in the first place which was always about money, competition and advertising.

Before the summer of 2010, there were two types of members: enthusiasts and vendors
After the summer of 2010, there were two types of members: enthusiasts and vendors

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the gradual change of free forum to advertising forum. That is the only real change.

Utmost respect to those vendors who were able to keep their composure, honest business and personal thoughts to themselves instead of opening it in an open forum. Those few really made a big difference outside of the online community. :M

I have only been here for 2+ years (I think).

I have been attacked for being in the jfarsang camp since typically I get tired of the responses from some of the venders only to promote sales especially since I see some scary stuff in the post that are wrong.

At the same time Falco I get tired of the bull shit administration that ignores it members, ignores votes, and promotes new sheep to become the few dicktator moderators. I think I was even attacked for being part of this great conspiracy to take start a new Delica forum. Reading the Zen does not make you Zen (your actions have not been very zen like).

Ignore, ignore, ignore and than distract, distract, distract, are not tools that "adults" should be using to run the dicktatorship with...It would be great if it was a club...that unfortunately it is not... I have more interaction with the members of Delica.ca on other forums then I do on here...that is really sad..

It is shame what has been happening.

Just drink the kool-aid Falco, build a vendors section :)

I also like to hear opinions from other perspectives too.. I wonder if Steven has anything to ad, or recommendations to ways we can make this community better?

Pajerry, where does the phrase "drink the kool-aid" come from?

You know the ironic aspect to this whole situation is that the champion of the so called "vendor section", the person that has been "protecting the forum" from those nasty dealers has actually moved 8 or 9 vehicles himself since he joined Delica Canada in late February, 2008. Does that not make him a vendor? So would this not theoretically confine him to the same prospective status as other vendors?

Just a thought.
