Great!
Having conversed with the voyagers from the far east I think I will be bringing provisions for the "Damned" in the event the world ends this weekend......

Who is it that has the Mitsumaple marker sticks? I've seen them in pictures of another camping excursion, and I'm wondering if they will sprout up around this weekend's campsite...

Just checking the weather report for the weekend for Port Alberni, Thursday 29, Friday 30. not too shabby camping weather, if anyone is still on the fence about whether or not to go.

Who are these 'voyagers from the far east'? Someone further afield than Vancouver intending to attend?

Most probably referring to someone like me who grew up in Quebec... And the dammed is again reference to one of our excellent micro-brewed beer:
"La Maudite" (At 8%

)... Pretty clever this Falco

If you can provide the officer's boardroom table (without a gap in the middle), I can provide the crystal decanter.

I'm waiting to hear back from the Tourism guy if the road is clear or snowed in, should have an answer on Monday. Anyhow, it's a reconstructed rec site with 27 campsites, all new and improved, so should be pretty nice. They said there may be a fee, but it's not determined yet, but it may be $5 a night per site. Good lake access (boat launch). What say you all??
Has the Stirling arm road from the rest stop been cleared ?

Hi Kathy & Brian & Pups,
We're packing, I'm freezing pre-cooked meals, Jay is installing the CB radio.
I Have Some Questions, Just want to verify things, so I don't overpack (per usual) :
Drinking water - website says no drinking water ??
Electricity - presume there is none.
Firepits - existing, or should we bring the portable wood stove?
Firewood - we're bringing big box full, is everyone bringing some? We bring saw, axe.
Tarps - have our 10x10 ft for delica, but don't plan to bring the 20x20 we used at Harrison, as running out of room.
These Things we mention:
- Arriving Friday afternoon, from Nanaimo, convoy with Falco.
- Stay with group Friday & Saturday nights, Sunday maybe Tofino.
- MitsuMaple Signs - we're bringing, good for marking road turnoff etc.
- Boat - we're NOT bringing boat.
Thanks for organizing this.
Christine.

Firepits - existing, or should we bring the portable wood stove?
As far as I know, there are firepits, we are bringing our woodstove for the tent
Firewood - we're bringing big box full, is everyone bringing some? We bring saw, axe.
you can never have too much firewood!
Tarps - have our 10x10 ft for delica, but don't plan to bring the 20x20 we used at Harrison, as running out of room.
we'll have the party tent set up (space permitting), if anyone else has large tarps bring them along, we may need them for the shade
We have a few musically inclined folks bringing guitars and such, if anyone else is so inclined
we are PROBABLY bringing our boat, and our buddy is bringing his for sure

Hi all,
SET-UP TIME ?? Do yo'll want our help setting up camp on Friday afternoon ?
As we TardisDeli and Falco are leaving Nanaimo 10am ish, we want to co-ordinate with whoever is setting up site -- your earlier posting said Brian was going in with the pups Thursday ?? So we can help set up tents, rake & clear site, tie knots for tarps, scare away strangers etc etc. What time would be best so we don't arrive just after Brian has finished setting up everything himself ?? Order us what time to arrive by, otherwise we'll dawdle along sampling ice-creams.
COMMUNICATIONS ?? Do you have preferred communications channels, otherwise we're on the usual frequencies for Vancouver Delica's: FRS Family Radio on Channel 5 sub 22, call sign TardisDelica. CB channel 4 , TardisDelica. Marine VHF channel 69, or hailing channel 16, Boat Name "Whaler Nautique". Jay cell 604-961-1390.
ROAD WASHOUT ?? does this road washout apply to us?
http://www.tsa.gov.bc.ca/sites_trails/alerts.htm
Alert: South Coast District The road to Snow Creek Recreation site has a washout at km 19.3 on Taylor Arm. This will remain this way until further notice. It is still accessible from Sterling Arm to South Taylor Main. (Posted December 21, 2007)
Cheers, Christine (Chocolate Brownies for Friday Night, RiceChris Squares Saturday).
