Hi josh, Thought about our boats, but not big enuf to put Deli on, even if we rafted 2 Boston Whalers together. 3 hours by water Vancouver to Nanaimo, but no way then to get the boat to Sproat Lake without the DeliTowMoBile & trailer.

Crap! I haven't made my ferry reservations yet! maybe saturday morning is still available?

Wait a sec.. you guys have boats.. we don't need ferrys! 8-)

Either way you guys should definitely come along, it will be fun.
So, gotta work out the amphibious thing, first how to seal up the entire undercarriage so no water gets in -- maybe Mystery Machine can weld something.

Coaxial, check the Tsawassen - Duke Point route for your reservations. Remember 7 days early booking is $15, less than 7 days is $17.50

There are civilized public pay parking lots near ferry in Nanaimo, by the public boat launch ramp (with nice public washrooms) that one could park overnight in if you get a late evening Ferry (nearby bar open usual hours so could use their facilities that evening). People leave cars there when taking their boat to local island cottages.

We will probably get the Thursday 10:35pm ferry from Twawassen, arrive 12:35 am. VanCamp that night near Nanaimo, then drive Friday morning. Monday evening ferries booked, Looks like Tuesday morning ferry back depart 10:30 am arrive Horseshoe Bay 12:05 pm so should be at work by 1pm.

OK ... we're in. As is Falco. Just committed to BC ferries for Thursday evening departure tsawassen 10:35 pm ferry arriving after midnight, will VanDwell somewhere Nanaimo that night, then drive in the daylight to where-ever. Returning Tuesday morning on Nanaimo - Horseshoe Bay 10:30 am ferry.

Who else is gonna go to uclulet and when, Falco & Tardis would like a night there also, maybe Friday night? But don't want to break up the group camp thing, assuming most people will be at Kathy's Kamp for Saturday? Kevin, where / when r u going? Delicat, have u decided yet? Kathy, will your puppies hold us enough campspots ?

Looking forward to it ... shall I do rice crispy squares again ... or chocolate brownies ... or?
Hint: Don't let Coaxial demonstrate his camp cooking technique without safety gear.

The campsite has 27 spaces, and if they are normal forestry sites they are pretty big ones. Brian is going on Thursday morning, and I think someone else (??) said they were going on Wednesday. So who's in and who isn't? We may be able to hold a few spots if we know how many we're talking about.

Count off!! Who's in...who isn't??

Alright I made my ferry reservations - I'll be at Nanaimo (Departure Bay) Sat 17-May-2008 8:05 am, tardis/paul/etc. if you are still around Nanaimo that time in the morning we should meet up and convoy out! FRS channel 5-22, CB channel umm..... 4?

My return ferry to horseshoe bay leaves nanaimo at 9pm sunday. Haven't got an exact plan for what to do on the weekend yet, aside from camp at snow creek saturday night, and spend some time in tofino.

See everyone there :)

The rice crispy squares were VERY good, but the brownies sound very tempting as well :)

The Tardisdeli & the Miss Lil' Bitchi will be arriving at Duke Point roughly around 00:35hrs, Friday and likely setting off for Snow Creek somewhere around 08:00, 09:00 the same day. Probably reaching Snow Creek around noon. The Delicat will be leaving the Lower Mainland sometime Thursday but we don't know when or where from as of yet.

Will keep you posted.

Falco.

Alright someones bringing a boat! :-D

My son and I are off on the 5 ferry leaving Powell River on the 13th, Tuesday, with no plans for the first night. We are planning to catch the return ferry at 10 on Saturday. Very rough plans currently are; to spend Wednesday at Long beach, Wed night at Kennedy lake, Thurs head to Snow creek.

Those are very flexible plans, cause I was guessing the big group would likely go all the way west on the No 4 Saturaday when everyones present. We'll just head the other way.

I'll be arriving in Nanaimo at noon on Thursday and coming back whenever on Tuesday. It'd be great if some camp spot could be secured! I'll probably cruise around Thursday as I'll be on my own and wouldn't mind to visit some of the area and some people.

So, how many people do we have yet? Here are those confirmed (as far as I know):

Kathy, Brian and pups
Delicat (David) and old pup
FalcoColumbarius
TardisDeli
BCDelica
Coaxial (one day only?)

And these I'm not sure 'cause for some reason recently the mainland people have taken over the subject and we haven't heard much from the rest... Are you guys still coming? (I really hope so!)

jrman
konadog
Greenme@u
zissou

Anyone else? C'mon Island people, we mainland people need to meet a lot more of you, Island people!!! And you don't have to deal with the ferry so you have hardly no excuses!!!

See you soon!

do we have to choose between rice crispy squares or brownies??? Not Fair!! Okay, okay, I choose ... chocolate rice crispy brownies!!!
Really looking forward to seeing everyone there, we'll be the crowd with the international flare in the monster tents, with beer, Mexican friends, Taiwanese friends, possibly some new Japanese friends, dogs, beer, beer, musical instruments, and maybe a couple beers.

If Coaxial should decide to demonstrate his camp cooking, we have a fire extinguisher!

ps: where are all the Victoria deli folks going -- haven't heard much from you guys about this trip!!

So thanks to BC ferries I can only camp one night, so is everyone planning to camp @ snow creek saturday night? During the day sunday I will be exploring tofino/uclulet, as well as saturday afternoon if there is time.

Sounds like fun. Count me in for the Friday night, and probably the Saturday night as well.

From reading this thread it seems that I should bring along some beer and a fire extinguisher. Because you all seem like nice people I will spare you my cooking. Anything else I should bring?

Cheers

Maybe you should bring your deli. It's a hell of a long walk otherwise. 8-)

Okay, we've reassessed our timeline and have determined that if we don't go this weekend, it may not be until the fall before we can get away again. And so, Moon Machine with StarCraft will make the descent onto the coordinates identified on Saturday afternoon.

Would not be totally surprised if I wandered along. Mind you I never know what is happening until it does.

Glad to hear you'll make it as well mararmeisto! Always good to put faces to names. Same for you electrik_jester, the more the merrier!

I guess we'll just improvised as far as rides in the trails go. Getting exited to get out of the city for almost a week!

I put some of our camp pictures in our album if ya wanna check it out, you'll know when you get there where the party tent is. I can't get them to post here, so I guess I'm doing it wrong.
