By my count, it's looking like 7 or 8 delis (and one big stinking Dodge truck), so should be fun.

Looks like the agenda should include silly games, including bocce, frisbee and beer, likely some 4 wheeling, and a potluck for Sunday night. We'll likely do something Mexican, perhaps the beef tortilla dish that we cooked up last trip (Yummy!). Fernando is going to bring his guitar and serenade us, if anyone else is into providing musical entertainment.

David, Mars is a definate yes, wouldn't miss it (he says now). We'll be bringing everything including the kitchen sink and a woodstove in case the weather sucks, we can all huddle around the woodstove and keep warm.

Only 4 weeks to wait! That sounds like a long time off doesn't it?

Just talked with the Hydro guy and the Strathcona dam road is OPEN. The big upgrade project is delayed and the planned two year closure of the road won't likely start for at least another full year :M :-D

I don't know how to put it here, but I made a map of the route from Hwy 19 to Orchard Meadow rec site. It shows as a PDF, but I think it opens to the map. Maybe someone with more forum-sense than me can put it here. It's in my albums.

I have official permission for us to use the site from the Forest Service (actually, it's Tourism now, but you can't retrain me at this point, it will always be forest service in my mind). Brian will likely be heading up early in the morning on Friday (10th), arriving early afternoon, and I will be arriving later Friday as I have to wait for kids to get home from school etc.

Here's a link from Google map giving some direction on how to get there, might not be the best way but it gives an idea. It seems to be a full day thing just to get there! I guess there's going to be a lot more road driving then offroad driving! Might have to use some FSR to get there!

If you're really determined to do the off road thing, you can go out of Campbell River, up the long long hill, hang a right at the top of the hill to Elk Falls, (over the dam), then after a couple k's left on Loveland Bay Road (Follow the signs to Loveland Bay Provincial Park).when you get to the stop (big intersection as FSR roads go), go to the left onto Campbell Lake Road and eventually you'll get to Orchard Meadow. I don't know the distances. Sorry! Maybe Kona can provide a better idea.

We're new to the deli site, having just bought our Delica in August. The boys and I would love to join you all in your camping adventure. We slept 5 people in the van one night in August. It was hilarious. Sort-of did a bunk bed arrangement in the back and a single across the front seats. Anyhow... just wanted to make sure that kids are okay at this event, or is more of an adult oriented camping trip? My boys are 6 and 10. I'd love to be able to contribute some appy's or dessert for the potluck, and being a music teacher, I should hope I could help out with campfire sing-a-long!!! Let me know about the kid thing.

So looking forward to learning more about Delica's!

Boys are more than welcome! Last trip J.Paul and Lucienne brought their kids, as did Glen, so no problem there. I don't know if anyone else is bringing kids along this trip. Look forward to meeting you.

I could make some rude remark about your bocci balls, but the BOT would probably get me

only 7 more sleeps! Brian is heading up on Thursday morning, should be there setting up the big tent and related equipment by early afternoon Thursday. I'm hoping to head up early Friday morning, arriving by noon-ish.

Could you remind me please: How much are we spending per night?

Brian says the camping fee is 6 beers and 2 dog cookies per dog per night payable to the guys with the biggest tent.

what do you mean "if the weather's nice". the weather has pretty much sucked all summer, that didn't stop us from camping! We have tarps, wood stoves, and Brian even fixed the shower system for this trip. Don't whimp out on us now, these group trips are too much fun!!
