I got onto that Japanese site and translated it and I got the understanding that it was for a two way radio system, which is why I mentioned earlier how "Tesslarian" it seemed as Nikola Tesla claimed to have developed systems using the Earth as a transmission medium. Mararmeisto also explained to me briefly how the wavelengths via Earth work, &c., &c. Do I really know what I am talking about? No. Smiles.

P.S.: Lo-jack works on a cellular level, with microwaves (I talked to a guy from Lo-Jack).

yes, however think back to 1992, cellular wasn't big yet, there are precursors to lo-jack...
as for "two way radio system" we already figured that... the question is what is being transmitted and received...
could be as simple as a 2-way alarm or tracking system, but I highly doubt it is a communications system, you get much better propagation from an antenna vertically polarized and in the centre of the roof.

Wow,
I just saw a movie called "Enemy Of The State" (great flick, BTW) and I saw a PAN looking device on the bottom of a car that looks just like the one you posted, Zissou. They talked about it in the extra features section of the DVD, when they were interviewing the technical consultants. The one in the movie is for tracking and is attached to the vehicle when the driver is away, which might explain why it is not hooked up to anything. Not meaning to cause alarm but the techs in the interview were real guys talking about real things. Could the former driver of the vehicle have been monitored by some group?

Hey Steve,
It was good to meet you and your great dog during the past long weekend. Don't hesitate to drop by Vancouver at some point!

Yes, with Gene Hackman. Must admit that it really got me thinking about my personal privacy, but then again, as you say.... pretty boring story about me, too.... apart from my secret polishing formulae regarding waxing Miss Lil' Bitchi! As Delicat says, it was good to meet you on the trip to Sproat Lake and look forward to seeing you again... smiles.

This is what I came across browsing...
http://www.acon.com/wps/wcm/connect/ch/ ... fcable.htm...It could be a first gen system perhaps a wireless toll payment system or for parkade/meter parking...I don't think I'm too far off as the Japanese are notorious for their fetish for wireless...Where else could you buy lobster from a vending machine with your phone...

Hey, Dave and Paul. It was great meeting you guys too! And Heidi too of course.
I registered for the 'round Bowen' kayak race so I'll be in Vancouver next weekend. I'm sure we'll bump into you. Okay, probably not, but I'll be sure to wave at any Deli's I see.
Peace out
Steve
