Back to the story at hand...

FWIW, I've been using Howes since I bought the van over 3 years ago - no magic protection for the IP for me it seems.

My diluted Stop Leak does not seem to have done the trick (I used one 946mL bottle to a *full* tank of diesel. Since refilling with plain diesel the problem has remained) so I might wait until this tank is getting low then try 2 bottles on a quarter-tank.

I wouldn't say its "magic" its just the only factor that changes the starting behavior. Although not perfect every time, its made a huge difference.

Stop leak blue-smoky starting follow-up:

Lucas chemicals might help stop a leaky fuel pump, but not a cracked cylinder head :-(

So now I wait for CVI to work their skills and punish my wallet...
