You sure were! You probably know already, but it's a common problem on the 4D56 caused by re-using the crank bolt when changing timing belt or whatever. The bolt is a stretch kind and one use only otherwise it ends up too long and bottoms out inside the crank without tightening onto the pulley allowing it movement. Left too long and it can destroy the nose of the crank.....
Nice catch! :-D

Today I spent to much time ...
Replaced winter oil to summer, as well as the bypass filter.
(I wish there was more room to put this filter in a more convenient place... it`s a cussing job)
Changed the fuel filter and did a Seafoam cleaning by putting seafoam into the filter.
Also redid the gasket on the valve cover and the half moon seal.

Should fix the leak on the valve cover.
The Seafoam worked great.

Don't get too excited though. It's a seven game series and Blueberry is bound to get at least one....just like the Canucks! 8-) :o

Good job in solving the mystery.

New L400 rear calipers and discs. The discs were good but I didn't want to reface them. One rear caliper was sticking but I replaced both. Now I have replaced all calipers, discs, flexible hoses and the master cylinder. Expensive but worth it.

After 15 years if the front discs are warped I'd recommend replacing the whole system. Also change your brake fluid ev 1 1/2 years. That way you can check the condition of your hoses. If the fluid is black the rubber is broken down inside and needs replacing.

Now my brake pedal is light but totally responsive. Gotta love that feeling!! :-D :-D

Nice work, I am in need of that. Did you do the work yourself? Where did you get the parts? Any recomendations?

Order L400 front rotors, brake master cylinder and hoses from local delica dealers or Rocky Mountain Imports 1 800 921 4536. These parts need come from Japan(2 weeks).

Rear rotors, pads, F&R calipers and fluid are available from Napa (cheapest) and Lordco etc. Order 95 Montero parts through BC hydro garage, BC Transit or other large utility for the cheapest price. Napa doesn't care and doesn't ask for ID.

The brake bleed kit is from Princess Auto. Jack it up, put the van on stands and get to it.

Falco, Jfarsang and others have laid out instruction and manuals for most of this work. Do a search.
Yes I did the work myself. Pm me if you like.
Good Luck

Or use JB Customs at Lordco (I get 70% off that way which is the biggest discount they have on any of their accounts)
