If you have the HP or gearing (ie not running in top gear) you could run through a NP205 Divorced transfer case (backwards) to cut the drive ratios by 1/2. The Ford version is cheap and very strong (no 4x4) through the overdrive and you have to select it prior to starting. These are a cast iron gear driven case that you can pretty much run water through as gear oil.

Well I am finally pulling out the tent pegs and moving camp. My destination will be Duncan BC. I am trying to
sell my Delica here on the East Coast. I will then drive the Unimog across Canada which is the highway driving equivalent of watching paint dry. Keep your eyes open for the big blue mog with a camper on the back.

Don't they have a Fuso LHD Crew for sale here in Canada?
As for the Unimog, mon dieu! I'd so take the Mog any day over the Fuso. I'd love to one day build a super rugged camper, I was looking a cheep, very capable offroad vehicles. I found M35 Deuce and a Half's for between $2000-$6000 depending on the condition. They're diesel, will run on almost anything flammable, and after I saw some offroad videos as well as a picture of a stock one on an RTI ramp I was sold! Then I was crushed to find out you can't register them in Canada

It'll still get it's ass kicked off road by your Mog, but it can out tow a bulldozer (really, it can! Youtube it!)

this is as far as I have gotten with the expedition camper. The roof raises up about 2 feet so that the cabover isn`t so claustrophobic. The idea with the rising roof was to keep overall height down (which is almost double that of the Delica!!). I am just over 11 feet tall and with an A/C on the roof it would be crazy high.
I have family in Aylmer but not sure if I will be going for a visit this time around. I will be crossing Canada as fast as that Mog sloth can go.
THe Mitsubishi Fuso is an excellent platform for an overland expedition rig. In many aspects it would be much better than the Mog, but hey I got a killer deal on the Mog and I am a sucker for overbuilt, overweight sluggish non-practical things.

Looks like it's going to be a lot of pavement; way too much pavement. The most pathetic part is that the chase vehicle is a Subaru WRX. I am having a heck of a time finding someone willing to stare at the arse-dragging 80kmh Mog for days on end. I should be looking at long distance cyclists, ultramarathoners, Shriners or the like.
