Relating to Rik's question below, how did you cut this square while not cutting through the defrost lines? Is there a trick, other than very carefully?

Also, and this may seem obvious, but I find that if I'm diligent about keeping the mirror (and window) very clean - free of diesel barf and road goop - that it works well even through the dark tint. 'Cept at night of course. I was considering installing a big mother back-up light, but have put that aside for now.

I left a little bit of tint near the edges of the defrost lines and just trimmed it with an exacto after

I tinted the windows myself with the Romulan Tire kit - takes a bit of patience, but use lots of soapy spray and squeegee until i hurts!

I only did the side windows with the darkest tint available and left the rear window alone for visibility purposes. I've pulled all the curtains out (they were naaaassstyy) except for the set separating the driver's area from the passengers (after cleaning out the nicotine...eewwww).

When these curtains are drawn - it blocks out all the light and there is complete privacy inside the deli even with the back window untinted.

Ohh...long gone to the garbage dump in the sky.
Washed them - and not much was left - extreme sun damage even after the nicotine was gone...maybe it was the nicotine that was keeping them in one piece!!!!

Ya, Moon Machine's curtains were pretty nasty too, but after hand-washing them in the tub, they turned out okay.

This is totally hijacking the thread but... we're gonna be replacing our curtains with new ones in a bold, exotic paisley. Bam! Paisley! Once I figure out how to take em out of the curtain rails and give em to our seamstress for replication, that is... loki, do you want our old curtains once we're done with em? They're in alright shape, just not the style we're going for...

sure. Would aslo like a look at the hardware to see if I can find something that matches at a craft or drapery place if it's not too much trouble, or I will just go with my magnet mount idea.

I was browsing through the car polish stuff in Canadian Tire yesterday and came across "Mother's Back to Black". $6 or so, just rub it on, took less than 5 minutes, no worries about damage, it works on any colour trim and so didn't affect the white at all. I had been looking at ordering some expensive 2 step treatment from the US for the faded trim on my Jetta, so I' pleased all to heck with finding something so cheap and easy and it works like magic.

Nice. We're figuring maybe something dark and bold in black, green gold. Something like that. Just a tasteful nod to the spirit of the psychedelic van. Dunno really... gonna have to hit the fabric store, see what we can git! My seamstress sez it's gonna haveta be pretty stiff material to take an ironing pleat like the current blinds do... I'll let ya know how it goes.

Yeah, we bought some of that on Falco's recommendation... but then my brother was over re-tintin' Juniper's windows and he had a heat gun with him soooo... I tried the heat gun on the front bumper bar and the back step and damn! Instant, deep black. Very satisfying! So we'll be heat gunnin it from now on for those parts, but using the Mother's for the trim and the smaller bits that are close to painted areas.

My brother uses a heat gun and a stainless steel exacto blade that doesn't mark the glass. He cut a line vertically at one end, lifted up the edge and then played the heat gun along the edge of the tint from the other side of the glass. That's very important, apparently. The glass gets hot and the tint gets pulled from the glass slowly in one complete piece. Prepare to smell some unpleasant things as the old stuff comes off.
