While I accept that a key fundamental of a forum is freedom of speech at this point I would prefer that it be deleted, to prevent the further spread of mis-information.

When the time is right I will explain in full detail EXACTLY what the situation was, but until then I have received legal advice in which I have been instructed to refrain from comment.

Regards

James

you dont have to explain your self to anyone . just because you have a buisness doesent mean you have to share your life with the public, after all look what all the prying eyes and gossip junkies did to Britney lol, and we dont need any more of that.
Besides in nz delicas only need to be 10 years old so enjoy the L400 that we cant have for another 10 months lol

Did an edit, hopefully that is acceptable. I agree it would be better to hear an accurate version when the time is appropriate rather than speculation. I regret if the previous post caused any problems.

James: I'm sorry to hear of your problems, and I just want to say that I am still quite happy with the Delica, and the way you stood behind the product you sold.

I know you can't get in to details, but I was wondering if you could give us a brief status... basically just wondering
Is JDM open for business at this point? or is it true that you are closed down until this is sorted out?

Regarding the JDM Wholesale and them being shut down I can say, as a person in the middle of this mess, that I would not only NOT reccommend JDM for any purchases but they have not been reachable for almost a week.
I have refrained from commenting on our situation thus far on the forum to be polite but there are serious issues we are dealing with at the moment and I am in serious doubt I will be getting out of this with a vehicle after 6 months of waiting.
This whole process has been a nightmare and I'm hoping it's over and done with soon.

Hello Nice Delica Owners!!

Massive Booo's to the [EDITED BY SITE ADMIN] JDM-WHOLESALE !!!

I bought a van off of those [EDITED BY SITE ADMIN] and I'm an idiot for not shopping elsewhere. I took someone's recommendation who bought a van a year ago and they have obviously changed their business practices.

I paid for a warranty (what it's worth??). When the van BROKE DOWN after 1 month I tried to use the warranty and found out 1) they just kept my money and 2) they aren't qualified to sell the warranties. The latter a testament to the quality of vehicles they buy the state they sell them in. James said he would take care of the towing and repair. I ended up paying for the towing and various other necessary repairs which I was promised would be done before I purchased the vehicle by the fast talking, slow thinking Nick. A shout out to Del's on Anacis Island - I paid you guys money to still have squeeky belts. I don't recommend to take the van there as you might have guessed. The km's on the vehicle were 5K over what I was quoted before putting a deposit down. Then comes the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority call to confirm they are selling lemons and false warranties.

So nice of you to represent Kiwi's in a bad light. I do know good people from NZ. [EDITED BY SITE ADMIN]. I guess you've left the country now and also screwed your suppliers who are from here out of thousands not to mention the other owners like me.

GOOD RIDDANCE JDM-WHOLESALE [EDITED BY SITE ADMIN]

Well as some one who has had dealings with Jdm i will put in my 2 cents worth. We paid for a van from them in aug which we were told would be in vancouver by the end of sept. we finally recieved the van after much hassle in late january. It was not in as good shape as we expected, and needed some work to get it to run decently. We discovered on our way home from vancouver to nelson that we had no high beam headlights. After we got home we discovered that the "good" winer tires which James had agreed to put on to make up for some of the delay were japanese non DOT tires. Which we have had to replace, along with paying to get our head lights working. James said to go ahead and get these things fixed and he would pay, but he hasn't. To the best of my knowledge and from what the mv authorities tell me they have left the country. I know for sure of one couple who paid for a van just after us who still have not gotten thier van... Another couple here had the same experience as us but did get thier van finally, i heard they have had some problems with it as well but i don't know the details. And yes JDM is under investigation by the Mv authorities. Hopefully that will clarify things a bit for every one.

I'd love to hear the JDM Wholesale side of this. What happened to the web site, BTW?

What I've heard via the grapevine (reliable sources; word gets around...) is unpleasant. We don't need this.

Look folks.......... I have been keeping as quiet as i can for some time but It doesn't matter anymore...

James and mel (aka JDM Wholesale) have fled the country......cleaned out the office,Hid the stock vehicles they had (nothing left but dirt and kitty litter on the floor that had all the vehicles)
They have turned off the cell phone.....the web site is no longer working...... The phone line (office number) was working last time i called it but theat was only because they probably paid the last phone bill....

They owe thousands of dollars to people. The sad thing is that it was probably a situation they could have gotten out of. Maybe learned a thing or two and grown from... I would say things snowballed out of control. Poor money management etc......etc....

I will have to pay out of pocket on top of the thousands of dollars already paid to them (if i even get my vehicle) to have the compliance and any service work done and for the inspection.
Shoot i guess i should have just paid the $16,000 that the mitsubishi dealership wanted for one over by the vancouver airport !!!! hahahaha..........

Sorry........ I just want my van... and i wish i had it last september. I have so many ideas of things i want to fab up for the van and i have access to some really cool equipment... I look forward (if all goes well) to being a positive contributing member of this great website.....

For anyone interested in an historical perspective there were previous posts that are interesting:
Buyer beware of JDM Wholesale (Canada/NZ)

Anyone wanting to still buy a car from them can go to what apprears to be their other branch which is still in business:

Fishslapper, would this be the diaphanous Mel?

Yes, it's true! You can still buy from these people through their NZ based comapny RF Imports. If you want to see that the 2 are one in the same then check out the New Zealand Minsitry of Economic Development and use their search function:
http://www.companies.govt.nz/cms

Since they are still in business and have enjoyed the benefits of our money I would encourage everyone to get out there on the other forums and post their experiences with JDM Wholesale (aka RF Imports). Why should anyone end up in the same situation as some of us have? Obviously the Robinsons aren't good business owners if they can pack up and leave the country to avoid business responsibilities and obligations and their prospective customers should know.

I don't know what happened, and JDM obviously aren't saying anything... but I do know that I was quite impressed with JDM when I bought from them... they went well above and beyond their responsibilities on my vehicle, including several thousand dollars worth of repair work AFTER I had turned down their warranty.

I'll admit they seemed a little disorganized, but they were always very open and honest in all communications with me, and they definitely stood behind the product they sold. I really can't find anything negative to say about the whole experience...

It's sad to see what has happened here, and I have no way of knowing what the truth behind it is, but either JDM changed an awful lot in the past year and a half since I last dealt with them... or... well, I'm not sure what to think.

Green1,

If the best that can be said about JDM is that in a given case the stood behind a given vehicle to the tune of several thousand dollars in repairs, it's a sad endorsement. Most individuals I've known who've bought Deli's from Island dealers have at worst required some additional preventive maintenance and most just drive a way with a very reliable vehicle that they are very pleased with.

I've seen enough so far in this tread to decide that JDM are and it seems never were a reputable outfit. Leave them to the Kiwis, but post some more pics of Mel!! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
