I think what is easiest is I will order a spare caliper when I order the pads, and if the current caliper needs to be replaced I will swap it out at that time. Then when I am not rushed to get everything changed, I will slowly rebuild the old caliper in the apartment with the parts you listed. That way I can make sure everything is perfect without the stress of time. And I will have a set of spare calipers better than what I can get at Napa/Lordco/RockAuto since they will have genuine Mitsu parts.

I haven't kept up on the last bunch of posts but... You will need a compressor (+hose and end nozzle), 2x4, rags and a workbench to blow out the piston on the caliper. It's a messy job, don't do it in your apartment.

Sorry for the confusion. I would do the messy part in the parking garage, and the rest inside where the lighting is a lot better. Otherwise, doing it all in the parking garage is fine if it is too messy.
Would a 12v tire compressor do the job?

I just replaced both my rear calipers a few weeks ago. The slide pins and the cylinders in mine were pitted. Even with a new rebuilt kit, a new gasket would have been chewed up in a few weeks.

~$70 each for Raybestos remanufactured calipers. I believe you get $8 each for the core. Good quality, Mitsubishi core. Total cost under $140 for the pair.

(Ask for 1996 Mitsubishi Montero rear caliper (Fits L400 and MKII Pajero)

Its an air compressor that runs off a cigarette lighter or direct off the battery to inflate your tires after a flat or offroading
