Puerto Vallarta has great drinking water as it is one of the few places in Mexico that has had its city water pass inspection for the last 20 years.
There are many things to do there including beaches, snorkling, jungle quads, fishing, exploring and it is very cheap.
My sister in law has a large house with pool that she rents out, either by rooms or whatever you would need. I think it has 7 bedrooms each with their own washroom shower etc. It is really nice and reasonable with marble througout, and gorgeous sunsets. that is walking distance to the beach, and is only a couple years old. A great spot to experience Mexico and the culture. Bussing up to Sayulita is about $2 a person. Nice town to visit. Every night in Puerto Vallarta the local amphitheather hosts amateur performers that are all free, and some are excellent.
If you want more info you can email me and I forward her email to her.
