What's this part?? I broke it.

Post by flyaway »

Hello!
While installing a WVO conversion kit (yeah! nearly there!), I accidentally broke a part  that now needs to be replaced (see pics). It seems to be some sort of a sensor (got wiring attached). Anybody knows what it is, where to get a new one etc etc??? Help is highly appreciated. The van runs without it, but I assume I should fix it anyway.

Cheers from Banff,
Miriam

Looks like a windshield washer pump, but not 100% sure
Measure it twice, cut once. Dam still cut wrong

steven, you're right, it's the AC vacuum solenoid. Since I never use the AC (I always have it on "OFF"), does that mean that I can just leave it as is? And leave it to the next owner to fix it if there ever is a next owner that wants AC? or will something get destroyed that way? I read that post (link you put there), and that person bypassed it, but I wonder what that means?

Not using AC won't affect anything but depending where the valve broke you could have a vacuum leak. When I took my AC out I plugged that hose.

Pull the vacuum lines and plug them with a bolt/similar.

Will do that (plug the vacuum line holes). Thanks a lot for the help everyone!

... and about the valve: I can post some pics once the conversion is done, or to just look at the valve: http://www.frybrid.com/parts.htm#valve
I think it's the regular one.

...and if you *do* decide to use your A/C, all that will happen is the engine idle speed will probably decrease a fraction when the compressor kicks in. It's no big deal.
