coolant leek just found

Post by jessesbamboo »

I notest a green puddle this morning after idling for 5 min letting the engine worm. I think I found where the leek is coming from. I tracked down a picture that shows this part and where the leek is coming from. dose anybody know the name of this part that circled in the picture?

Did you not read the post where you got the picture from?

I am not a mechanic but from reading the thread I would say its the injection pump.

How much is leaking out?

you are looking at the bottom of the injection pump. It won't be the leak. Check your upper rad hose, it is likely leaking where it is clamped to the engine. Remove it, clean the fitting it clamps onto, also clean the inside of the hose and reinstall. It is also possible that the gasket between the rad hose fitting and engine is leaking, but not as common. It is also possible the head gasket is leaking, but check the simplest things first.

Its not coolant dripping, its diesel, Guess I had some coolant on the ground for some reason and assumed without smelling what was dripping at the time. so I guess I need a new seal.

maybe maybe not

check the injectors, lines and the fuel filter lines. could be seeping out from any of those areas as well.
