Heading down to Portland in a week or so and toying with the idea of buying a roof rack for my 91 L300 Exceed while I'm there as I'm sure it'll be far cheaper then up here.
Does anybody have any brand recommendations? Model numbers will be helpful to as I actually won't have my van with me while I'm down there.

On a high roof Thule 953 feet or Yakima 1a hi rise will get you a few inches above the roof. You can also make your own spacers for the Yakima so its not so far off the roof and you can take the roof slope into consideration.
What do you want to put on the rack? I had Thule 953 with a ski rack which was nice because the additional height let the boards clear the roof. I changed from ski racks to a cargo box and thought it looked ridiculous 4" above the roof so I went the yakima route and made risers to keep it as low profile as I could.
