Frantz bypass oil fliter: Who's interested?

Post by Fishtank »

Hey all,

I have a possible source for multiple Frantz bypass oil filters at a rather reduced price. I will definitely be getting 2 or 3 myself, just thought I'd put it out there for others if there is enough interest.

In case some of you don't know what they are or if you want to know more, check out http://www.wefilterit.com/.

I was thinking of scoring bypass filters for 2 more vehicles so I might be in for 2 depending on the price.

They will probably be somewhere in the $60-$70 range.

Do they provide a noticeable difference and how so? I'd be interested if I knew why I needed one and hopefully someone could post install pics for an l300!?

Okay, so far I have the following people interested:

psilosin - 2 (possible)
thedjjack - 1
mrdueck - 2
Seabird37 - 1
Neuroma - 1
Jordan - 1
djelica - 1
gtexjunkie - 1 (possible)
Kuan - 2
nxski - 1 (possible, check out the website and let me know)

That makes a total of 13. I was thinking of doing these as kits (once I install my own) and send them out with all the required fittings and hoses, or just the filter housings alone for those who want to install themselves. I would keep the kits down to a minimum cost, just enough to cover the cost of the hoses and required fittings. Post here and let me know what you would prefer.

If you are on here as a possible I will still order for you and confirm with you later. I will be calling tomorrow morning to confirm the how many I can still get, I will update again tomorrow.

I'm definitely in if it comes with an install kit. If someone is interested in posting an install thread with pics that would sweeten the deal.

Here is Firesongs install: http://www.delica.ca/forum/bypass-oil-f ... 99-45.html

I can't find the link for it now but I was reading a study that said the oil appeared cleaner with the use of a frantz but engine wear increased because it filtered out beneficial additives in the oil along with impurities. Can anyone comment on that who has used a setup like this for awhile?

There is a lot of contradictory information regarding these filters, lots of happy customers along with skeptics. Probably not a solution like other bypass filters for increasing mileage between oil change intervals into the hundreds of thousands. Given the amount I drive (20k/year) and the climate I live in I think 2 oil/filter changes a year to switch between 5-40 and 15-40 and a new roll of TP a month should keep things running smoothly.

I may want the kit depending on how you install yours, the parts included and what the mark-up cost is. I'm assuming your filter only price comes with the bracket? Is this the new style filter with the screw clamp? Rudy

Rudy, I'm not looking to turn a huge buck on these, just trying to supply fellow owners with access to good filters. So like I said above, the cost of the kits will be just to cover my costs, I will let everyone know how much it runs me.

And I'm pretty sure these are the older style clamps.
