New 95 Chamonix in Surrey, BC

Post by ealanm »

Just picked this up from Mardy in Richmond, yesterday, and already I'm in love! This is a great vehicle. It drives exactly as I hoped it would, and I can't wait to do some trips in it.

For anyone in BC who hasn't taken the plunge yet, I've found Mardy a pleasure to deal with. Everything went just as he described it, and the Delica seems to be in great shape, with all the basic maintenance items taken care of.

Welcome to the club ealanm! This is the second L400 Chamonix Mardy sold; I bought the first one from him and the third unit is on the way now. You are right: you cannot go wrong with Mardy! Enjoy your ride! :M

I'm not really all that clear what's different on the Chamonix, other than the graphics. I do like the look, though.

I'm also enjoying the diesel. I've only driven other diesels a small amount, and never owned one before. I find it a very relaxing engine to drive. The whole package is just exactly what I was looking for, with a bit of a funky look thrown in, to boot.

Chamonix on the L300

Winter package, dual batteries, limited slip rear end. It is for the all season skier (not sure about the summer skier maybe water?)

My L300 SuperExceed Crystalite has, dual batteries, winter package, LSD so I don't think it's special to the Chamonix, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the carpet and the fabric on the seats. They're supposed to be more durable (i think).

Whatever the difference is...nice ride regardless! 8-)

Welcome Ealanm!

I like your point about the diesel being relaxing to drive... I think it is more pronounced on the L400... don't know why. I noticed "something" about the difference in the motors between the L300 and L400 and you put your finger right on it. 8-)

I just bought my L400 from Mardy on Xmas Eve and am lovin' it. Mine is an Exceed model but it has LSD too... I think the general concensus is they come with whatever the original owner ordered them with. The Chamonix and the higher Eceeds (I believe) came with the Winter Package as standard tho... other models would've been optioned that way. Yours is a really nice looking bus... great graphics!

Cheers!
Ian

Yes, that's pretty much what it is, I guess. Mechanically, it seems the same as a Super Exceed. I actually think the interior in mine is a bit garish. But it's in quite good shape, which is what matters the most to me.

I can't get over how much I enjoy driving it. I don't think I've ever been this excited about a four-wheel, road-going vehicle before. I keep hoping it'll snow!

Chamonix comes in low roof and high roof (non-crystalite)

Better paint job w/ graphics (metallic pearl blue color is unique to the Chamonix models)
winter package, dual batts, alternator/starter, windshield wiper defrost
only L400 model that comes with a manual throttle cable (like L300) and heated mirrors
hard wearing carpets/seats like the L300 Chamonix
Simple push/pull heater controls
gauge pod w/ incl, in/out temps, volt

so confusing how many variations they have. chamonix seems like my kind of rig with the more basic stuff and throttle control...but i likes the crystal light roof! lol.
i don't mind that interior at all, kinda has that vegas casino carpet feel to it! lol.

stoked for ya! i remember that grin on my face when i bought my first jdm!

Mardy is cool beans! looks like another happy customer!
