New Delica in Okotoks!

Post by JHelzer »

My heart won out over my head and I flew to Vancouver to pick up an as yet un-named L300 Super Exceed.

This is her looking much cleaner than after my 15 hour, avalanche dodging drive back home.

The drive gave me lots of time to daydream about the things I would like to do (or in a couple cases need to do) to personalize her.

Looking forward to picking everyone's brains at the next meet up!

Right on, JHelzer, awfully clean looking ride, crowned with a nice basket on top. She is a beautiful looking P35W! Good place to start is the To Do list on newly acquired Delica. Consider it as an introductory course on understanding your Delica. Even if all that is needed to be done has been done it will give you and an idea of what makes your Starwagon tick.

Falco.

Wow! 2 Delicas in Okotoks. I drove our L400 home last weekend. How is yours doing in the cold snap?

I had Butch and Edwin at CVI install a block heater before I picked it up. I was a little worried about the first -26 start but after being plugged in over night it started up really easy.

I'll be keeping an eye out for an L400 in town.

Ditto!

FYI, the lube joint on N. Railway out towards the stadium can do the oil change when you need it... they have the right filter for the L400 in stock, I'd guess the same for L300... the Napa in town also has the filters for the L400, again, assume they have them for L300.

Thanks Ian.

I would have saved myself a drive if I had taken your Van off your hands back in November. :)

Regardless, I'm pleased as punch right now!

Well, yes but there's nothing like a nice long road trip to get acquainted with your new bus plus it looks as though you found a real beauty! Everything happens for a reason.
[you and foxycanuck should try to come to our little meet in a week or so at peters drive in then try to make it to one of our excursions.... /quote] AGREED! I hope you are both able to get to the meet. Our excursion to McLean Creek was a whole ton of fun... a good way to get to know the capabilities of these crazy vans... I am continually surprised. Doesn't matter what your skill level is either, the group has some skilled drivers that can guide you and you ALWAYS have a choice so there is no pressure. You may even bear witness to some strange driving... ahem... Madmazda... :-D

Hi, foxycanuck,
the L400 is longer than L300,
pls dont used any L300 oil filter for your L400,
napa dont have L400 oil filter,
they used the other oil filter fit for pajero not L400 even its same 2800cc 4m40
the L400 filter is longer & bigger if you used this shorter one you might ended up
leeseen oil filteration as L400 has a bigger body & heavy than pajero so in the longer run
need cooler oil to meet the engine spec.oil.
hope this help you, you dont want to destroy engine or lessen your full oil circulation of your engine
just because of the shorter oil filter:

Hey Mardy,

Based on the manufacturer part number for the L400 oil filter (ME088532) Napa lists their filter (1675), same filter Wix and Hastings give in their manufacturer lookup when I cross reference. The number comes from the manufacturer parts codes on the website here. It was the same size and thread pitch as the one on there.

It's a different filter than the L300 (I think NAPA gives that one as 1067), I haven't looked at it though.

Is the 1675 the wrong one? If it is then either the part number on the list here or the filter lookup is wrong.

Hi, 1675 is right on 4m40 engien but you need to have a look on th efilter the filter is a little bit short.
but used on same engine it use for pajero shortwheelbase & some LWB.
you dont relay on napa as they screw up to there reference it did srcew me up before same napa filter
so if you want to check it have a look into it & you will see the size.
the L400 4m40 is same engine as pajero but spacegear is bigger than pajero
thats why mitsubishi makes it bigger to compensate the load & heavy frame for the spacegear. even its the same 4m40 engine.
it can be o.kl. for short while for long run no good soon it will destroy your engine as its has luck of oil circulating the engine. not enough to make the engine cool.
hope this help
