Soil Sample
Hello All,
My Delica has just arrived in New West aboard the Sirius Leader. sounds like Mardy at Amazing is going to help me out with compliance......one question. How many days does it take for them to get around to doing a soil sample? I phoned WWL numerous times, nobody picks up there. I have to drive down from Kimberley so I am hoping to time things with the different importation levels.

Re: Soil Sample
Hi Jeff. Welcome to Delica Canada
Why are you asking about soil samples? How does that relate to importing a Delica? Who is/are WWL?
Falco.

Re: Soil Sample
I believe customs inspects the vehicles(soil sample)....to make sure nothing is hitchhiking its way over to canada from overseas?? I was hoping this would happen quickly but I have heard that 3 days is the norm.
WWL is the Canadian side for NYK (roro ship).

Re: Soil Sample
Hi Jeff
WWL does not do the soil inspection. It is CBSA.
Be SURE to follow these steps so you don't get stuck with not being able to import/access your vehicle :
*see attached PDF file.
Did you fax your soil inspection form to CBSA ?
If not, do it RIGHT AWAY ! Sometimes it takes then one day, sometimes 4-5 days.
You should have received the documentation (attached pdf guideline) from WWL already.
Without the soil inspection form stamped by CBSA, you cannot pickup your vehicle.
Without the Bill of Lading surrendered, you cannot pickup your vehicle.
Without the soil inspection stamped and the bill of landing surrendered, you cannot go through customs = you cannot pickup your vehicle.
Is the shipping prepaid or collect ? Has the BOL been surrendered ?
**** copy of the WWL importation document ******
Step 1 Steamship Release
Steamship release is provided from the Shipping Line or the Shipping Agent. WWL cannot accept Original Bills of Lading (OBL) in lieu of a steamship release, nor can we fax, mail or deliver your OBL to the appropriate Shipping Line on your behalf. For information about acquiring a steamship release please contact the shipping line directly:
Nissan Motorcar Carrier
C/O Montship Inc. 800 1111 W. Hastings Street Vancouver, BC V6E 2J3
Contact: Nissan Import Tel: 604-640-7400
NYK Line
C/O ACGI Shipping Inc. 710 900 W. Hastings Street Vancouver, BC V6C 1E5
Contact: Gabriela Williams Tel: 604-891-7448
Step 2 Soil/Agricultural Inspection Release
This procedure is required for all vehicles imported from Japan into Canada.
Complete the Soil/Agricultural Request for Release Approval Form, call CBSA Agricultural unit: 604-713-9800 for a copy.
Fax completed form to: 604-713-9844
When the soil inspection is completed, a CBSA stamped copy will be faxed to you at the number you indicated on the form. For more information, go to http://www.cbsa-asfc-gc-ca
Step 3 Canada Customs Release
Once the soil inspection is completed, call CBSA at: 604-666-0547 to make an appointment to process your vehicle. DO NOT PROCEED TO 333 DUNSMUIR WITHOUT AN APPOITMENT.
Proceeding to Customs without an appointment will cause backups, congestion and delays.
Step 4 Notify Vehicle Services Canada
Fax completed customs release forms to WWL at: 604-528-8238
ALL 3 releases must be received by WWL 24 hours in advance of your arrival to pick up your vehicle(s) or you will be turned away until the next business day!
NO EXCEPTIONS!
Once all steps above have been completed, call: 604-528-8263 option 1 to verify pickup date call often as date and time can change due to unforeseen circumstances.

Re: Soil Sample
Get that soil inspection done asap.
Without it, there's nothing to do but wait and you only have a few days before WWL starts charging you per day.
