I just love these vehicles - they make my heart sing!
As I am an older someone who has zero knowledge of mechanics and works 5 days a week so there is not really time to suddenly start to play at mechanics, I am anxious about the availability of my non-existent (but dream of owning one) delica breaking down and I am somewhere where there is no one who knows how to fix it and/or no parts anywhere near where I am.
I am on one of the Gulf Islands so while I am around home I am not too concerned as we have Benn in Cumberland and the Coombs guys. It is what to do while traveling.
I couldn't find this anxed topic anywhere and if folk have already responded to this topic please show me where to look.
Thanks, Dar

Re: anxious
there is nothing so extremely different about a delica that a skilled mechanic would not be able to repair or replace. one might have to wait a day or two for certain specialized parts to be shipped, but really that is the only worry. make sure you buy a delica that has been thoroughly gone over by the guys at coombs (like this one: http://www.delica.ca/forum/1993-l300-gl ... -8974.html )
you can be sure that Delicas, when maintained properly, are reliable. ive been to mexico, down to california a few times, and east a little ways too in mine with no problems.

Re: anxious
I thought the very same question a year ago prior to purchasing my 93 Exceed but so far all of those fears were not realized. I still think it is prudent to be prepared for all of those issues that you mentioned. So when I travel I mentally prepare for any of those things and I prepare my van but after that I just go for the drive and enjoy driving a Delica. For me it is part of the adventure of owning a unique cool vehicle.

Re: anxious
Thanks for the tips!
I do find that most folk buying these do have some mechanical experience.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained - I've got to keep remembering that!!!

Re: anxious
I forgot to add that I only have basic car knowledge like how to find the engine and check the oil. But I have made my Delica my hobby so I have been trying to learn. Recently I even blocked off my EGR which took me a while but was very fulfilling. Cheers.
