One set of rules for the moderators, another for everyone else. we were told specifically just the other day to keep private messages private. You chose not too... but it's ok, because you're a moderator and can do anything you want...Adrock wrote:I felt it necessary to include some background. Re: Any users not happy with my moderation please speak here...
Adrock,
When you first arrived on the forum, I must admit I misjudged you in my own thoughts. I saw a young guy unconcerned with roughing up his Delica a bit, and mentally lumped you in with some of the yahoos I've seen on the 4X4 trails around Calgary, Givven-er full throttle till something breaks, tearing up the public lands, and then when the sun goes down, burning down stuff, and ripping around drunk. However, after reading your posts, especially the non-Delica related ones (i.e. career paths and your dog come to mind) I realized that I was wrong (sorry!
), and you were really quite level-headed, responsible, and thoughtful for your years. I had no problems when you became a moderator, and I still support it.
Joining Delica.ca is easy, free and has potential to be very valuable, both in information and in friendships made. I believe it also carries a responsibility to be respectful, to keep an open mind to other's points of view, and to act like adults. The moderators are volunteers, not babysitters, nor should they be, and from what I’ve seen they are incredibly more patient and judicious with the lock-stick and ban-stick than I would be in their position. They do a kick-ass job of trying to keep this place civilized.

I agree – someone coming upon this post without knowing the background would not have known the sender, until they outed themselves. They have themselves and their disregard for Site Rule 1.1.1 to blame for their situation.Jaz wrote:The person who PM'd was not named, and as far as I am concerned, that person is still unknown. Nor was the actual PM published. What Adrock was questioning was whether the general populace of this website still trust his moderation.
Well said ErebusErebus wrote:Adrock, the very fact that you even ask everyone's opinion shows you are doing a great job and thinking twice about what you do as moderator.

As a short timer on this forum I think you are all doing a hell of a good job. Not everyone will agree on every topic, but the few who disagree with everyone almost always should shut up or be shot down. Was " the king" not banned for less? I read lots on here and post only when I have questions that I have not been able to search answers for,or when I have usefull info. (Which is few and far between
)Thank you for the useful knowledge on this forum.

youre all good with me... i dont know what the story is, but for sake of argument, if you were in fact in the wrong, then perhaps there would be a "strike" against you. thats all... or you could go to another moderators house to get a spanking...
but whatever, youre doing great and carry on!

so many dead horses have and continue to be beaten, the mods are fine, if anything a little too lacks, the Ban Stick needs to come out more!! lol just kidding but I think more slaps on the wrist, deletions, and locking needs to happen.

Both you and Green1 need to stop with the childish bickering....OR....put on the mitts and sort it out like men.
As I said in GREEN1's poll "SUCK IT UP NANCY"
Enough. I come to this sight to get info and opinions but not to filter through useless banter and bickering.

Aaand, I think it's time to lock this one too.
Let it rest, be forgotten, and breaks mended in time.
I urge those who are doing the keyboard warrior thin, or even just arguing a point, pick up the phone. Discuss it. We're all adults here. Take it off line. It's so easy for things to be mis interpreted and blown out of proportion on teh internetz.

Im sorry but this:
"it is inappropriate for a moderator to moderate a discussion they are personally involved in.
Locking a thread may be appropriate. Stating which side they favour and THEN locking the thread is abuse. (and of course crushers likes you, you supported his illegal venture)"
Just ticks me off.
Green1, if you have a problem leaving others to their own opinions go away.
You seem to think you are the last be all end all to everything.
Last word Last word Last word...
sheesh.
Adrock. Your fine, don't worry about it.

Billy Joel circa 1978? I think the moderation here is fine. Good job, keep up the good work and thanks for donating your time to all
the moderators. Been away for a while sorry to see some of the threads getting a bit tense. Don't worry be happy.
