The reason to choose this area for the intake is to free up the area behind the wheel well for an air to water intercooler in the future. Running heater hose is a lot easier than 2.5" pipe. I studied GaryO's intercooler pictures and knew that was way beyond my capabilities and patience. The location may limit water crossings but by the time it gets wet water will be coming in the doors!! With the improved air flow I'm not sure I really "need" an intercooler anymore.

Good idea. That was something myself and another were investigating, but we never got much beyond the hey-wouldn't-it-be-cool-to-have-an-intercooler stage...

Not sure about that. As far as I can tell from the photos your air intake is way lower than stock and without housing too. You want to avoid any bigger puddles for sure and don't try to keep up with Delicat :-D (That was even without snorkel) I guess it all depends how much you use your van off road, but more space for more mods is a good goal. 8-) :M

Concur with fexlboi - the original position of the air intake put it ABOVE the wheel, and it looks like your modification is definitely much lower than that.

Yep the intake is a little lower. By my calculation about 24" from the ground. It's likely 6" lower than original. The fan and alternator will be in the water by then. If I'm into water that looks that deep I'll be checking depth with a stick!!

[quote="dennis_lambert"]"The K&N filter listed in WIKI that should fit is a E-4810"

A provided link seems to show the E-4810 filter is only good on 87 and 88 L300 ? Did Mitsusbishi change the filter can for later years? Mines a 94.......

K&N Applications for E-4810
Replacement Industrial Air Filter
Product Information and Specifications for K&N Part E-4810

what size air filter does your 94 L300 take. i have the same van and want to change the air filter.
