Fuzzy Braking, Dashboard brakelight

Heya all, I did a search on this and see it could be a couple of issues, but I suspect that I might just need new brake pads. I noticed the that brake light has come on on the dashboard then noticed, hey, I need to press the brakes pretty much all the way in to get them to work well. I don't think the pads were new when i bought it, i will PM the seller just to check. This can be changed up pretty much anywhere? Brakes are brakes i hope. cheers

Dont know too much about the l400, but on the l300 and many other vehicles the brake light will go on when your brake fluid is low.
since you have spongy brakes aswell you may be low on fluid.
maybe someone with an l400 can tell you where your brake fluid reservoir is.
may not be the problem, but a good place to start

The brake warning light will come on when the brake fluid gets low in the resovior.
Check you brake fluid level to make sure its not empty.
I think a brake inspection is your first thing to either check or have carried out.
Is the brake pedal traveling a long way before you can feel the brakes working or is it just that you have to push to make them work?

Actually, I just realized that the E-Brake wasn't all the way down! haha how embarassing. However, I checked the brake fluid, it is perfect. So, could just be i need new brake pads based on quite a bit of play in the brake pedal i thinks. Will look into that

If you drive with the parking brake on, the rear brakes will over heat the fluid and you get spongy brakes (done this a few times in my life).

Once they cool, things usually are fine.

actually, as usual, i went to panic stations kinda early. Apparently on the Ebrake you can have the handle just on the first little "click" without the brake really being on but the light will come on! haha Did a little trouble shooting and it turns out that was the simple solution. Gonna do a little visual inspection of the brake pads and check on them. cheers all! thanks again!
