This seems to explain the dent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfftfnsK8pY
Here is the Plan for now:
Flush the cooling system, new hoses: Coolent Diesel Wet Liner Specific -any suggestions of make? Thermostat is newer.
New timing belt, balancer belt and tensioners -any suggestions of make? (and accessory belts since I am in there and water pump if warrented)
Transmission Fluid (5 Speed) -Calls for Hypoid Gear Oil SAE 75-90 or 75W-85W conforming to API GL-4 (Hard to find GL-4)
What are people using? I know for Toyota's the syncros do not seem to like newer API GL-5 stuff? Anyone adding additives for the syncros? Anyone using Synthetic? RECOMMENDED BRAND
Transfer Case -Calls for Hypoid Gear Oil SAE 75-90 or 75W-85W conforming to API GL-4
Front Diff: -Calls for Hypoid Gear Oil API classification GL-5 or higher SAE viscosity NO. 90, 80W
Rear Diff -Fluid?? COuld not find in the manual, I assume the same as the front. How do you know if it has a limited slip? IF so what are people using for additive?
I will do the work myself. Here is my last truck I built from the frame up -1963 Jeep FC170 with Mercedes OM617 Turbo Diesel http://bb.bc4x4.com/showthread.php?t=123204
The Plan:
Basically build a Westfellia Camper out of it (either pop up roof or solid fiberglass, pro and cons of both)
Cheers
