Hello great and wise Delica owners,
I'm looking at buying a Delica but I have a few inquiries that I need help with...
First; how hard is it to get parts new or used? I've got a line on what seems to be a good van but it will need a new windshield and it also has a leaking rear axle seal.
Secondly; is it difficult to find mechanics who will work on them...and know what the heck they are doing? I live in SK but will travel for a good mechanic.
Thank you kindly
Jason W.

Jason,
Where in SK are you?
When our van is in Regina and needs anything done, we get it done at Performance Auto. They do a good job! Any place that has older Alfa's and Porche's in the lot can't be all bad!! They do quite a bit of work on VW diesels as well. Ours was the first Delica they had seen but they were not perturbed by it. Granted, the only significant thing they have done is install the block heater, but we have had routine service work done there.

Hi Rod,
Nice to hear from you. I'm west of Saskatoon about an hour. Thanks for the heads up. I'll be going to Moose Jaw sometime next year for my final year of trade school. I'll have to head over to Regina and make myself known. Hopefully by the end of this week I'll be the proud owner of a delica.

Re: Looking to join Delica mob.
Welcome to the mob!
All gear can be sourced usually fairly quickly, and any diesel mechanic should be able to look at the engine and know what to do for the most part. The thing to realize is that it might take a little time- more so than a domestic vehicle. But even a dom vehicle will be in the shop for a few days sometimes. If you have some mechanical ability or are willing to try, then even better.
It's -27C and piles of snow out today, and this van is so awesome in it
Cheers,
Erik in Edmonton.

Re: Looking to join Delica mob.
Thanks Erik,
Sounding better all the time. I went back today to look at the van I would like to buy and it only gets better. Such an unusual vehicle but it suits all of my families needs including my need to get back to wheeling in the bush. Just gotta love em.
Cheers

Re: Looking to join Delica mob.

That's me...all smiles.
Finally bought my first Delica(91 Exceed hightop)! Wahoo. These vehicles rock!!!
The second best part of today, other than picking up my Delica, was driving to pick up my Delica and my crappy old domestic van blew it's engine. It was so awesome...great big hole in the engine...oil all over the side of the road. I just smiled and waved boys. And the best part of that is that I don't even have to go back and get it. It was written off two weeks ago so insurance is coming to collect it. Ah life is good in a Delica!!
