Great area. Rutland gets kind of a bad rap but it's actually very nice. I used to live in Winfield a little east of the Hwy & worked a ways south of there at the airport, at Kelowna Flightcraft (Kelowna Fright-craft we used to say).
I don't think I'll be driving quite that far to fill up though; unless I'm in the neighborhood that is. :-D

Oh, BTW, I've been filling up at a place next to the Lake City Way skytrain stn in Burnaby and sometimes at a Husky stn on Nordel Place, basically at the southern foot of the Alex Fraser bridge. It is a few cents more expensive at either place than reg diesel.

Hey Drumster, Kelowna Flightcraft is sure a popular company around the world these days. Just a few months ago a Russian Antonov landed in Kelowna on our newly lengthened runway to deliver three Russian Military helicopters to be re-fitted with all new state of the art instrumentation.......pretty cool indeed........................Kirk out.

I lived in Rutland when I went to OUC.... Now are those Hind-D helicopters being unloaded at the Kelowna Airport? If so, what are they doing in Kelowna?

Not sure. The converted 727 in the 1st pick was one I used to work on though; just routine maintenance/repairs/etc. KFC has contracts with various companies for that sort of work so I'd guess the helis are in on that basis.

Hmmm, on a closer look from what I can see in the photos, probably not a Hind-D Mi-24 but a Mi-8. Which makes more sense. I can't see why 3 Russian attack helicopters would end up in Kelowna. Now, 3 TRANSPORT helicopters I can understand! 8-)

KFC has their own paint shop so possibly they're in for some sort of corporate painting. That flat greenie-yellow looks to me like the standard aircraft primer and that would've been done before shipping anywhere for top coats etc.

OK, enough about air craft; seeing those pics makes me want to take Yoda for a spin out that way... and now I'll know where to find Bio when the time comes. :-D

We now return you to our regular broadcast...
Yeah. So about that Bio diesel: Evidently the "Biodiesel" I've been getting off Lake City Way is now only 5% Bio. They do this for the winter months but frankly, for a measly 5%, I'll just skip it 'till Spring and use 100% Dino from somewhere closer to home in the meantime. :? So shoot me. :-D

The way I always understood it is that Bio has relatively small enviromental benefits over dino.

Also heard it just ends up hurting the poor because the price of staple crops such as rice and corn increase due to the fields being converted grow "diesel"???

that's only if it is made from SVO and not from WVO. I think most around here is from WVO.
