More new than New!

Post by mycale »

Greetings! I am writing from Victoria, BC. I saw a couple Delica's around the town lately and simply fell in love with them! I just had my second child in the last 14 months so we are in the market for a new car...looked at subaru forrester and etc. but they just never struck me the same as the Delica. I really am quite interested in buying a Delica, either from an importer or from some domestic dealer. I have browsed the site and I love it! Lots of good stuff! I was just looking for any friendly advice on where, who, what and the how of purchasing. Will ICBC be banning the RHD vehicle in BC? Jeez I really hope not! Anyways, I am sneaking into the club without actually owning a Delica but I will be among the ranks soon i hope! ;-) cheers

Mycale,

Welcome to the club. 2nd child in 14 months. If youre a guy I'll say amazing, if your a girl, I'll just say ouch ! ( and congrats)

A good group of Delidudes n Dudettes in the city of Geritoltinis. Mamarmeisto, KB&2Dogs,Chewy just to name a few. I personally have only dealt with Glen at CCAuto on the island. He may be a good starting point. Over here on the mainland, I've dealt with Mardy of Amazing Autos , and David of Japanoid. Both good starts as well. If you have been following the topics and using the search, you should get a good idea of what you would be looking for, and asking about on your selection/purchase. Either route of importing or buying from a reputable dealer is just like buying any other 15 year old used vehicle. I bought a gem off Craigslist with only minimal knowledge of the vehicle itself. Your mechanical abilities should dictate which is the route for you. There are people in the club that will be more than willing to help out, or at least steer you in the right direction .

Cheers

Hey there and welcome! There are a number of members that don't yet own delis - some for a good long time too :-D We bought our bus from a now defunked importer and had it mechanically refit at ccautos in Coombs. If you haven't found through your searching about here, ccautos are the Island's go to delica fixers. The buses sold through 5-Star in Parksville have all had the ccautos refit treatment and so are ready to roll. Amazing Autos (Mardy) on the mainland also has a good rep. There are also delicas cropping up in the vehicles for sale section here. For example, this one is a good bet that, if I were in the market, would for sure want to look at: http://www.delica.ca/forum/silver-chrom ... -5724.html
If you see one you like but are unsure of its condition, make an appt. with Glen (ccautos) and have the lads give it a good sniffing over for you - money very well spent. If it needs work Glen can give you an idea of how much more you will need to spend. Our bus cost $8,900.00 off the lot and we spent $2,000.00 more at ccautos straight away. We feel like we got a good deal and have not had any major issues so far... Good luck with your hunt - I can't say enough about how much I love my delica :-D :M
