I'm looking for a LHD...

Post by Lorenzo »

What's up everybody!?
Last fall, I had discovered the Delica Van... Since then, I didn't look any further for any other car on the market and I think that I will ride my bike until I found one... Also, as you may know, Quebec government announced a ban on registration of RHD vehicle. So the only way I could have one of these car is to find a LHD one...
So my question is : Is it possible to found one, And is it possible to convert a RHD to a LHD?
And if I can find one of these, will it be the same feature as the RHD?
PM me if you have any responses...
Thanks!
Ben

I think it's the Philippines which routinely converts these to LHD, but it would be simpler/cheaper to just find a LHD model. Not sure if the diesel version was exported, but there are gasoline ones available.

Wouldn't that be a laugh? Quebec is trying to stop the importing of foreign vehicles in a desperate attempt to save a failing domestic market and we're still buying vehicles from elsewhere!

Bonne chance!

Salut Ben,

Yes it's possible as they have them in Taiwan. I've seen two for sale here in Vancouver but one was a 2wd while the other was 4wd plus had dual sliding doors. One was advertised on craigslist and Mardy had the other one.

The Phillipines ones are a conversion and not as good.

Bonne chance!

The factory LHD ones don't have all the toys the RHD ones have, they in fact tend to be quite stripped down. There are however conversions from some places, which range from hideously done, to looking factory...

So if you got a factory LHD without too many options, would you be able to add them afterwords from another say, crashed delica? :o (Was smoked by one of those silly RHD skylines, of course) :-D

all depends how much effort you want to put in to it...

but if you want a crystal lite roof I'd recommend moving the LHD components to the RHD van and not the other way around...

Chile has a tonne of LHD converted Delicas. We arent allowed to drive the RHD here. Supposedly it is a fairly easy swap with a Hyundai Porter truck. Or that is what they have told me. I just received mine. The job is... ok. The dash he gave me is pretty beat up, and AC doesnt work, but i think I should be able to fix that. And for the equivalent of $600, can I complain?

As for importing one of them to Canada... beats me. But let me know how it goes if you try as I may want to bring my new baby back with me when I come home one day!
