olive oil?

I might have a small source of oil that is said to be a combo of canola and olive oil, is olive oil ok to use? I just haven't found a list of acceptable oils anywhere and don't want to just assume.

dunno how well that will work in the winter, olive oil solidifies in the fridge, but if it's mixed with canola it might be ok, you'd have to run some tests and see how it reacts.

Don't know if it's relevant, but olive oil burns at a much cooler temp than canola - turns nasty for our health when overheated too, which is why it should not be used for high temp cooking. How that plays out in a deli's cylinders I have no idea

Delicat has a book listing the various properties of various oils for car fuel. As I recall olive oil was not recommended, due to its low burn point. But you could always try to chill your mixed oil, then take the solid olive oil layer off (might take a few chills, as it doesnt seem to actually go solid). Christine.

My feeling (based on quick research) is that the olive oil would not be a problem. Ofcourse, there are few guarantees in life. You should reference the journeytoforever website and see "cetane ratings" and "iodine values".

thanks, I actually don't really care anymore as I finally have a decent source that will likely give me more than I will need :) now to finish the filter and conversion, man I wish I had more time in the day, I might just have to take a day or 2 off work to "git 'er done"
