What's up everybody?

Post by bigbird »

Hey all.
I have a Delica scratch that needs to be itched!!!....So I finally decided to jump in. This is where it gets interesting. Having joined this forum only a few days ago I proceeded to check out the importer/dealer ratings. After seeing what had been posted about Mardy I sent him a message. Last night my phone lit up with a 604 area code number...WTF? I thought....It was Mardy himself calling me to have a conversation about what I was looking for, wants and needs....Holy crap! Talk about customer service! Needless to say I was very impressed. Just thought I would share.

Quick question...At 6'3" will I be to tall for a Delica? Keep in mind that I find I am to tall for most vehicles.

Thanks and look forward to having all you long time Delicaholics helping me when questions arise.

Greetings and welcome,

6' 3" is fine but I'd suggest a high roof. I feel your pain(I'm 6'5") .

Welcome to the group. Hope you find what you're looking for in a reasonable amount of time.

With regard to your question about height, I would recommend a high-roof Delica (either with or without the Crystal Lite windows). At 6'2" I find I have about 2" clearance for my noggin. Or more to the point, when I've sat in a low-roof, I found the roof was too low.

Two reasons for the high-roof selection: the seat is not adjustable downwards, at all (and I find reclining the seat to not be all that helpful); and us taller folk are generally looking out the top 6" of the windshield regardless, so having a low roof is only going to aggravate that condition.

Good hunting!

The best way to resolve height issues is to sit in one and see. This is a big purchase, and you need to be sure it's right.

I'm on the tall side myself, and have gotten used to scrunching down to see traffic lights. Otherwise, I have no height issues.

A high-roof Delica with stock tires and ride height is an underheight vehicle on B.C. Ferries southern routes, but not on the northern routes.

6' in a P25 (low roof), very comfortable with lots of head room. You can also check on this other thread for the same issue: http://www.delica.ca/forum/is-6-3-too-t ... -4448.html . There is this one guy called Konadog whom also has a P25 and he must be at least seven feet tall :? .... maybe not but he is pretty tall.

no, it's not just you, it comes from having big feet, and having to have your heel as far back as it can go so it's your toes and not the middle of your foot on the pedal.

That's me - at 6'5" I'm not as tall as dah_Hunter, but I do have plenty of room in my low roof.

Me too, so I removed that left side foot rest and often use the hand throttle on the dash while motoring on the hwy. so I can stretch out my right, throttle foot - ahhh :-)

Thanks for the input y'all. Good to hear a Delica can handle people cut from a bigger mold. There search continues....

Hi BigBird, Welcome,

Visit us in Burnaby, we'll set up a Deli-Meat-Up so you can meet a bunch of us, try out our vans, and also try out the various sleeping modes.

We love our high roof (not Crystal Lite, which reduces the inside height by 2 inches in the passenger area). Jay is 6'3 and I am 5'7, wonderfully the deli driving position is exactly the same for both of us, no changing seats or steering wheels, just adjust the inside rear view mirror and off we chug. Need the high roof when sleeping so there is room to sit up easily and read while camping. Our outside height is exactly 7 feet, so not overheight on the ferry.

Cheers, Christine.
Christine

Thanks Christine.
I will more than likely take you up on that. I won't need to try your Deli out though.....It appears the proverbial "trigger" has been pulled. Now I need a name.....

Or will it? Has anyone recently registered a RHD Delica in Alberta? Check out new thread in Import, inspection & registration section. Please!!!
