Lately I have had intermittant starting problems with my 92 Delica. When ignition switch is on I get all electrics working but when I tried to turn over it just clicks at me. I talked briefly with Glen at CC auto and he suggested it was the neutral safety switch and to stick the tranny in neutral and try starting. Sure enough it fired right up. Have a message in to Glen but thought there may be someone on the forum to help me locate the NS switch and give me a tip to access it and clean it up. Thanks in advance.

Re: Location and clean up of Neutral Safety Switch
Hi clw54!
I had the same problem with a petrtol and with a diesel one too. The problem was the starter motor. We stripped and restore it. But first check the plugs on the battery and check the battery's power level too.

Sorry but the cause of this fault in the starter motor is too complicated for me to describe it in english.
Usually the bendix, magnets and brazen things:

It located under the captain seat and the battery (for me in LHD). If you try to grab it out be sure that you disconnect the battery.
(If you are not sure thet the porblem is this you can push in the vehicle, if you have a manual gearbox.)

Re: Location and clean up of Neutral Safety Switch
the safety switch is a much more common and much easier/cheaper fix, check that first

Thanks for the input. Can you point out where the Neutral switch is located.

Neutral safety switch is on the drivers side of the transmission. It is easy to take apart, clean, lubricate and put back together. Had the same issue last year not too long after I got my van, but haven't had any issues starting since I cleaned up the switch. Its about a 30 minute job.
