-30

Thats really really cold.

But it makes winter winter!

I think my other half would have a real problem with it being down that low, I reckon I could get used to it though.

Yeah, and that's the real, before wind-chill, temp. too. Add a good stiff breeze and it feels even colder! And while we on the coast don't have anything quite as daunting to deal with, it is snowing HARD again here... :-(

Not so much used to it as learn to tolerate it. Dress warm. Think back to when you were a two-year-old and Mom bundled you up. :-D

Properly dressed, it can be very nice out there. Yesterday (Christmas Day) my SO and I went for hike in a provincial park we know. Only 1 other car in the parking lot. Very, very quiet. Absolutely silent, no wind, no cars, no people. Unfortunately, couldn't find camera, so no photos.

LOVE the second shot. My wife and I are runners, and seeing the pic makes me want to go running there. Very beautiful. You should make a postcard of it.

Isn't there a yearly run or walk event that circumnavigates the whole of Lake Cowichin? Too far for me on foot, though maybe on a bicycle :? But for sure in a delica... :-D :M

Sorry if we've wandered off the snow topic Drooper - It's pouring rain and about 5C here now, whew, can't wait to see the grass and dirt again! Anyway, in addition to the Great Lake Walk, there is a simalar, and very epic walk / run from Gold River to Tahsis in early June every year - It's a daunting drive, let alone doing it on foot - Hey Pinkfingers, are ya up for 64km and three major mtn. passes, including the highest elevation public road on Vancouver Island...? Epic.

Wookie's Silver Bullet at the Gold River starting point of "The Great Walk" We were en route to a fun caving adventure at Thanksging Cave - the cabin that was covered in snow a few posts back. I bet it's pretty deep up there now too...

Not worried about going of topic mate its just all the talk of running kinda makes me feel tired!

Having said that those walks do sound cool, again its not something we do here really, mainly cause there is no where to do it unless I want to drive for 3 or 4 hours first.

I can take Toby over the fields for a good run but not quite the same as mountain walks.

Again I say you guys have some gorgeous scenery and it would be nice to go for a walk in it with the kids and the dog, get some fresh air in our lungs. :-)

Its like you camping trips, we can't just drive to somewhere and set up camp, light a fire and chill out like you guys can. Anywhere that would be worth stopping for the night we ain't aloud to park at.
