Radd Cruisers: JDM, Delica/Paj service shop in Duncan, BC
I would just like to say "hello" to all the Delica, Pajero, and other JDM drivers in our area - and to introduce ourselves: we've been reading the Delica.ca forums for some time, but do not have much time to post as you may appreciate that running any small business is a very consuming job.
Who we are:
Radd Cruisers / E4 Auto Repair ltd is a maintenance and repair shop located in Duncan, BC. that is very JDM friendly. Presently Radd Cruisers / E4 Auto Repair ltd. is comprised of John, Jason and Rob - and each of us has considerable experience in various aspects of repair, restoration and fabrication. Radd Cruisers originally started in the Nanaimo area as a Land Cruiser restoration and repair business, but over the years became known locally for doing repair work on JDMs as they started coming into the market.
E4 Auto Repair Ltd. started up in the Duncan area in 2002 and ran on an part-time/appointment-only basis until 2006 when we opened up for full-time weekday service, repair and fabrication work (regular hours are Monday to Friday 08:00 to 17:00).
In very early 2008, Radd Cruisers re-located to Duncan to expand its capability and to join with E4 Auto Repair in E4's newly expanded shop. This has worked out very well for both Radd Cruisers and E4 Auto Repair, since our combined knowledge and experience is now located under one roof and in a convenient, central location.
We own and drive both JDM and non-JDM vehicles, and try to stay on top of the various issues that pertain to JDM ownership.
What we do:
Radd Cruisers & E4 Auto Repair Ltd services most makes and models of cars, SUVs and 4wds, along with JDM / right hand drive cars, vans and trucks. We have numerous local and not-so-local clients who drive Delicas, Pajeros, Prados, Land Cruisers, Carrys and other JDMs who bring their vehicles to us for detail-oriented care and attention.
We also provide parts, maintenance, fabrication and installation services for the 4 Wheel Drive market in the way of after-market accessories such as Winches, Gauges, Bumpers, Roof Rack systems, Suspension components, Off-road shocks, Lift Kits and related parts.
We have a wide range of products available from various manufacturers and suppliers such as ARB, Warn, Denco Turbo, Old Man Emu, BDS, IPF, PIAA, Hella etc...
Our approach is to work cooperatively with our clients, suppliers, and other local and regional shops to provide the best service possible. So far, this non-adversarial, team approach has been working very well for us and our business partners.
Capability:
Our shop is equipped with: 3 two-post hydraulic lifts and the equivalent of about 6 bays worth of working space; a multitude of welding, grinding and plasma cutting equipment for welding and fabrication work; up-to-date Snap On diagnostics and Lab Scope services for North American spec. Japanese, European and Domestic cars and light trucks.
We are well-equipped with tools of all kinds to service the many different makes and models of vehicles we encounter, from vintage cars and trucks, to unique JDMs and fully built-up 4 Wheel Drives.
Contact information and Location:
We are located at the south end of Duncan and directly across the Island Highway from the Old Farm Market. We are in the same building as the Columbia Ice water-bottling plant and in the same complex as Duncan Transmission and Kroffat Brake and Wheel. If you have any questions, we will do our best to be of assistance.

Hi and thats wonderful to have a shop so close to home. I know a number of Delica owners that will be extremely happy. Will you be stocking Delica parts and providing regular servicing or just specialized 4x4 stuff?
Thanks

Hi Kuan;
We've been here for a quite while, and we have a decent local following, but we hear way too often "geez, I wish I had known about you earlier" or "I didn't know you guys were even here." So, this is my attempt at getting the word out a little.
We keep stock of certain parts like filters, valve cover gaskets, belts, hoses and a few other bits and pieces such as a tail pipe. We find that we can get most parts in a pretty reasonable time frame from our local suppliers, so there's not been that great a need for keeping large levels of parts on the shelves. If you know you have a service interval coming up, calling ahead of time and giving us a heads-up as to what you're after will reduce any down time to a minimum.
The basis of our business is mechanical service and repairs. The 4WD parts thing is growing, but is not what keeps the doors open and the lights on.
I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks John. That does answer my questions. Well, I know quite a number of Delica owners in the valley that don't know you service Delica's so thats great and will pass the word around.RaddCruisers wrote: We've been here for a quite while, and we have a decent local following, but we hear way too often "geez, I wish I had known about you earlier" or "I didn't know you guys were even here." Regarding mounting a winch to a Delica - we've had a few people ask, but no one has stepped up to the plate yet...
To mount anything but a very small winch on a Delica would take a little looking into. It certainly is possible to do, and I would like to have the opportunity to work with an interested owner to develop such a mount. If anyone in our area is interested, give me a call... If there's a lot of interest, I would be pleased to offer these as a bolt-on item/kit to the Delica community. I could also put together a winch mount & winch package at a favorable price if there are more than just a few requests (ie: more of a production item instead of a one-off item).
I would suggest that a winch in the 6000 to 8000 pound pull-rating range would be a very reasonable starting point. There are some very nice winches available in this size range that would offer good reliability and at a fair price (thinking more of a higher quality unit like a Warn here, rather than a Costco-type unit). The dual batteries that many Delicas come with is a real benefit when running a power-hungry accessory like a winch.
Any takers? Give me a call... let's get started!

Hi John,
I have a 8000lbs Warn 8274 winch waiting for install but to tell you the truth, I think the entire front bumper will have to go for a new one. I have a pretty good idea of what needs to be done but instead of expending on this side track we should start a new post as needed. Don't hesitate to contact me via PM.
Cheers,
David

Re: Radd Cruisers: JDM, Delica/Paj service shop in Duncan, BC
these guys rock!
on tuesday my engine quit in the island hwy in duncan. it was in intermittent thing that had happened maybe 4 times before. i coasted into a stop at the radio shop behind serious kaka. i fiddled a bit with the fuel lines but was pretty sure anyway that it was the fuel shutoff solenoid. (when energized allows fuel to the IP, when you turn you key off, it deenergizes and stops the fuel)
i phoned E4 becuase i read about them in this thread. john came over right away to do some testing and agreed with my theory. BCAA towed me to the shop not too far from where i broke down.
(as an aside, the tow truck driver towed the now famous stolen then burnt up in the bush delica a while back)
the shop is clean and organized.
we got on the horn to glen at ccauto to see if he could send us a replacement fuel shut off solenoid. john was expecting some other delica stuff sooner or later so they got on it sooner. i hung tight for the 5 hours while i waited. at 5pm or so nigel from cc appeared with the solenoid. john and jason got right to work in my engine compartment, about 50 minutes later i drove away happy as a llama in peru!!
call these guys for delica and other JDM repairs and 4X4 mods!

Hello John, welcome to the board. We have met before, I post on Island4x4and have been on a few runs with you. I was there when you winched green meanie back on all 4's on Skirt with the use of a snatch block. Your cruiser was always very capable, I even had a 75 fj40 for a few years, I bought it after I saw how well yours worked. I had to let her go, not yet in a position to have multiple vehicles, would like to get another one some day.
To anyone on this board: John has had a great reputation for work on Landcruisers for many years, I have seen him work on stuff on the trail, very meticulous, would have him work on my truck with full confidence.
I am thinking about a winch too but would probably think about going reciever mounted so I can go front and rear. A reciever mount up front would be nice for moving the trials bike around too.
