I'm sure the others are wondering as well.

thanks

Haven't looked in this section of the forum in too long. Only just discovered this thread. I've been wanting to get a skid plate (and a transfer case plate) since day one. Please put me on the list for one of each. Shipping might be a bit of an issue, since I'm in Calgary. Greyhound seem to work well for many things. PM or e-mail me when money is needed.

I notice that nothing has been said in a while about the transfer case & tranny plates. If you need, some ideas can be swiped from mdrives post with photos of plates in this thread

Hi folks !! Well i was going to wait until next week ,when i have the plates, but since you are so interested...... I should have them next week. Let me tell you this has been a big learning experience !!! Lots of people to get help from and wait for ....... (not delicat ,other people)
I had some issues with the drawing and getting it sorted out was an ordeal.....
The reason i have not posted was that i did not want to write and have it look like excuses ! I wanted the next post to be that they were done.
I am just happy that this project will be done soon and that next time it will go soooooooo much smoother from all that i have learned..Delicat and i are already brainstorming projects soon to come.

thank you for your patience........ :-D :M
cheers isaac

Ok..so brainstorming is good...hmmm - I'm thinking to become a "hobby welder" and buy a Mig so I can make my own front bumber - then a rear bumber with integrated hitch and swinger out tire carrier....ok, way beyond my skill, but have to learn somehow. Here's the reason....I dented the front left side of my deli backing out of a parking stock and running up on a barrier - the repair will be $500 + part and painting - for that amount, I can buy a used Mig and learn something new.
Mitch (Steve Mitchell - ex Deli owner) started the same way...bought a used welder and started having fun...so what the hell - maybe I can make something interesting - or have fun trying!!! Hope I don't burn down the garage.

I just did a little class at KMS Tools for welding, they have them every weekend and are great to get you started. I've mig'd for years but it was over 20yrs since I did tig, so it helped to refresh the memory. Now I too have to find a little welder, some aluminum pipe and some time and ...... VOLA!!! new clothes to dress Duke.

Any further news? I just found out that I will be in Vancouver in 1 or 2 weeks, and would love to pick it up in person. Avoid the whole "shipping to Calgary" bit. Besides, I'd really like to have it on the trip north that follows the Delica tuneup at CVI.

Anxiously awaiting ...

1-2 weeks might works pretty good for you. We were told they'd be done by the end of next week. We'll have 30 of them. Problem is that we don't have direct "hands on" so who really knows... They did one for us and it looked real nice so at least we know they are capable!

Fishslapper just received great news this week, I'll let him expand on it but way to go Fishslapper! :-D :-D :-D

So at the end of the day we should get a very nice skid plate for a very reasonable price. This has been dragging way too long (we're at page 8 after all!) but if we got it done quicker it would have cost a lot more... Since most of us will drive these van to the ground I figured we'd rather save money than time!

Finger crossed! And thanks to all for being so patient...

Provided all goes well I should be picking them up next weekend. Delicat is right, they are taking long but it's definately keeping the costs down. When I have them in my hands there'll be an immediate post and we'll work out a meet so you all can get them on your vehicles.

As for the good news Delicat mentioned, we are FINALLY finished with the JDM Wholesale mess ... well, almost. We have received a decision on compensation and are in the market for a Delica again. After almost a year and a whole lot of stress I'm hoping to have one by the end of July ... which means I'll have to make some more skid plates so I can have one myself!

Hopefully I'll be able to post next weekend that they're here and in the meantime keep your fingers crossed!

That should work. I'm only going to be in Vanc. for a couple of days max (might be able to make the meet!) to get a Deli tuneup. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Another issue might be the part of the skid plate that rises up in the front to protect the oil cooler. I've got fog lights mounted behind and below the bullbars.

They are attached to a piece of C-channel which is bolted to the back of the bullbar onto existing brackets that already have a nut welded on. Too easy to resist. Here is a photo looking up from below

What do you think, will they interfere?

Sweet! You bet I will
