Re: transmission problems after a service
Hi, you have to keep the transmission warm up in a certain temperature upon changing the filter. make sure the engine is warm not cold & put the transmission in neutral but with hand brake on, so the car wont roll.
let it runs for 30 minute & check the fluid level. make sure you put dextron 3 fluid on it. origianl is detron 2 but upgrade dextron 3 is better. then when its warm up you know if the level of fluid is right.
on level or need to add.
usually its shift to gear just press the brake & then it would shift for sure.
i hope you got the automatic transmission not manual.
manual transmission need a different fluid. not just a regular gear fluid.
hope this help:
Thanks,
mardy

hi mardy, when I put it in drive it will not shift out of 1st unless I manually shit it, I could do that up to third and it wont go into overdrive.fluid level is correct and I put dex 3

Re: transmission problems after a service
it seems that you have a malfunction torque converter.
did you do a manual tranmission change like taking the pan & clean it.
did you change the transmission screen filter on it. ot you just do un-plug the & drain the transmission oil. maybe you transmission filter is plug.
but if you do a machine flush it sometime suck the old oring from the transmission & block the passage towards the transmission.
to may thing could happen.
so you can check this one step by step, its just weired this thing happen to you.
check everyhting possible, or you can call me anytime 604-720-6144
maybe i can help:

Re: transmission problems after a service
Ok - so this is from a guy who doesn't know much about tranny's other than the fact that I destroyed one on a dodge years ago in 2 days by driving in the manner described in this post. I recommend NOT driving your car till you sort out what is wrong. Take it directly to a transmission specialist. The mistake I made on my Dodge, was that I disconnected the transmission shift linkage from the throttle linkage in error. If my memory is correct, and not sure if the deli is the same or not, but on the Dodge - there was a butterfly valve the regulating the transmission fluid line pressure based on the throttle being applied. I disconnected this linkage by mistake, and failed to reconnect after doing work to the intake and carb. The car drove great - and I could shift manually (3 speed no overdrive on that car) - so I had fun for 2 days driving around believing that I had somehow figured out how to turn an auto into what I think is called a "manual valve body" which is basically and auto running like a standard (minus the clutch)....but, I messed up the tranny BAD.....pls seek the advice of a transmission expert ASAP.

Ooh, that had to be painful (and messy)! Glad everything "worked out" for you, so to speak.martybc wrote:hi mardy, when I put it in drive it will not shift out of 1st unless I manually shit it, I could do that up to third and it wont go into overdrive.
