Quick Fluid Question
When I replaced my U-joints on the front axel I forgot to drain the diff first and catch the oil, so needless to say I lost a bit of fluid. My question is what do I use?? In the manual is says, "Conventional Type" and "Limited Slip" but Im really not too sure which one would apply to my 93 starwagon. In the Manual is says you can use GL5 on both types. What are you guys running back there??

Re: Quick Fluid Question
Well, the front wont be an LSD, but its also not really 'back there', so you need to decide which diff it is first :D
For the front the book says GL-5, viscosity number 90, 80W. For the rear its the same unless its LSD, then its LSD oil:
Limited slip differential:
Hypoid gear oil
MITSUBISHI Genuine Gear Oil
Part No. 8149630 EX
CASTROL HYPOY LS (GL-5, SAE
90), SHELL-LSD (GL-5, SAE
80W-90) or equivalen
Oh how I love the smell of EP90 in the morning...

Re: Quick Fluid Question
Ok. I got a little confused, perhaps I still am!! Im talking about the front drive shaft at the aft end. I suppose this isn't a diff, perhaps a transfer-case?? it is the big box immediately aft of the transmission where the front and rear drive-shaft attach. What kind of oil does it use??

Re: Quick Fluid Question
yeah thats the Transfer case. I just used standard synthetic gear oil in mine, it takes about 2.5 litres of oil, so a big syringe works well for filling it.
