I think '92 is possibly the best year. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

Thanks, i'll make sure to take pictures as I go. Hope to have it running by next fall for my winter ride....will be spending lots of time rust proofing everything.

Spent a few hours just cleaning the interior, looks way better now after a few buckets of black water......

I felt bad as it was given up by its previous owners to the GM dealer in town for its cash for clunkers sale........

And apparently its Miss Lil' Bitchi's 1/2 sister?? but still trying to figure out the blood lines ... 8-) lol

1989 is the best year:
1) headlights that actually light the road
2) 24 years old so can be soon sold to USA for $$$$$

-I would do the new motor...and the used turbo, head, injector pump worth some $$$

back seats are typically free...hardest part is lifting it :-D

Would like to do a mild lift 2" or so after I get it running! lol.....The turbo I think is what may have killed the lower bearings as its covered in oil. Also the frame is covered in oil on that side....lost oil pressure.....just my guess so far..

I guess if the head/injection pump are still good it could help pay for the new motor...and help some peeps out on here....never though of that

Thanks

Have you considered importing a second low grade, low mileage similar Delica yourself as a part vehicle?

I agree with thedjjack, the squares are the best.

Chances are with the Japan tag on the lenses I'd say they are not up to code. Is there a number in a circle? That will give you the "E" code which you can compare in this thread. Ultimately if you shine your headlamps against a wall and the flare goes to the left the lamps are designed for vehicles that drive on the left side of the road. If they flare to the right then they are designed for vehicles that drive on the right side of the road, like in Canada. If the flare goes to the left then you are blinding the oncoming traffic, much like driving with one's high beams on.

Don't be surprised: my van had passed "inspection" and is licensed for the road, and non of the required changes had been made. You might want to go over the list and make sure the other stuff has been done, which I doubt as I don't see side reflectors.

some times they get approved lights put in for the inspection and switch back after..

You could be pulled off the road and sent for an inspection at anytime...

Yeah I will be changing the headlights before I put it on the road, I'm just acting like it just came off the boat and going to change all the fluids/hoses and inspect everything to make sure its good to go, As I don't know any of the history on this van, I did find a dried up mouse on the side of the air filter! lol.

Took out all the carpets and seat today and started cleaning the seats, and going to toss the carpet out after I use ot for a template for some new rubber flooring.

Since it is going to be a winter beater you could leave the stock headlights and instead put a pair of snowplow lights on the bush-bar to be legal (snow plow lights would have the advantage of letting you see at night a plus in PG) and save $$$$$

I've heard this before, but where do you buy snow plow lights?
