Auto door locks malfunction

Post by Artacoma »

My van has an auto lock function that locks the doors when you exceed 20kmh ,every so often it tries to relock after I pull away at an intersection or whatever , it has always done that once a week or so.
For the last week or so it has been locking everytime I exceed 20k wether I have stopped or not, on the way home from work today it zapped the locks about 20 times. The last few times it has done this I can hear the power locks starting to protest and I think they will soon crap out.
The auto lock feature is not part of my aftermarket remote lock system and these symptoms preceeded that install.
My van has the factory keyless entry system but came with no remotes and apparently they are not available. When i installed my rear speakers I came across the part of the keyless system with the antenna in the side panel and I disconnected that.
Has anyone had this problem?
Does anyone know where the rest of the stock locking system resides so I might be able to disconnect this anti feature?

Yep, it's a massive PITA even when it works correctly. Under the dash, near the fusebox near your knees, locate the yellow/red wire shown in this photo and cut it. In the photo it's been cut and run up to a switch so it's the one with the block connector on it. This will disable autolocking.

Did the snip ,didn't make any difference. :-( That wire powers the light around the key on the steering column. hmmmm
I'll try chasing some wires this weekend , my passenger door lock will only lock manually now and I think the drivers door is soon to follow.
Edit I cut the wrong wire .... fixed that ....up a little further is the same colour coming from the grey box above the fuse panel .... cut it and it did the trick :-D :-D :-D
Thanks Diver!!!
no more auto lock , door switches still work and remote still works,
now I still have to fix the passenger door lock but that should be something in the door I think.

I concur with last remark .
I took my door apart to fix the lock and all is good now, the power lock is built into the main latch/lock assembly and is actually a little motor instead of a simple solenoid. I had to bypass the little resistor thingy.
Surprisingly few parts left over this time :-D
