Seiko Brown - Worlds best Canadian Camping dog

Post by kb&2dogs »

Today is an incredibly sad day for our family. We lost our big guy Seiko in the middle of the night, under a full moon - very fittingly.

He wasn't sick, but he had a crappy day yesterday, and last night his breathing was very laboured. He spent most of the day yesterday in the kitchen, just drank a bit of water and wasn't interested in food or walkies.

In the middle of the night, he got up and went to lay by Brian's chair, where he spent every evening after dinner getting his required pats and scratches, and that is where we found him this morning, looking as peaceful as can be with his one ear flipped over.

There is a huge hole in our family forever.

In memory of our best friend Seiko. We will always remember you.

Dad, you got a new friend, take care of him for us.

Bye big guy!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

To paraphrase the late George Carlin, the best thing about dogs is eyebrows. Dogs can be expressive because they have eyebrows. They look at you, raise their eyebrow, and you know they think that thing you just did was a little goofy, and they don't mind telling you. They use their eyebrows to let you know they're happy, sad, lonely, tired, excited, questioning, and a whole range of other emotions humans can read, from just the set of the eyebrows.

Cats don't have eyebrows, that's why they look at you so blankly, with no passion, with no feeling, with an emptiness in their expression. Dogs never look at you like that.

So many have already expressed what I would have said, but I'll add my condolences too. it has been 3 1/2 years since my c*t Natasha went to the Rainbow Bridge, and 1 1/2 years since her brother Boris joined her.

We still miss them terribly, but their memories make us smile or cry frequently.

Fred & his spirit familiar Natasha (1988-2005)
Lesley & her spirit buddy Boris (1988-2007)

You too have many wonderful memories, and they will comfort you in the days and years ahead.

Everyone has stated what I am thinking, and very well I might add. Just one thing, I am glad to hear that Seiko went peaceably, in his favourite place and that his passing wasn't a great struggle. We should be so lucky. When my time comes to move on from this party of life and catch up with my brother and others ~ I hope to do so in a fashion similar to the example of Seiko...

Be well, Kathy Brian & Tundra ~ there is no such place as "far away".

I am very sorry to hear about your loss, and so does Tobi. He did wag his tail in agreement to the Rainbow Bridge, which I take as a good sign. I think that such sadness is a clear indication of the depth and richness of a connection you have shared, which is a true gift, as well as an inescapable reality - to love anything or anyone is to risk loss.

"And a relationship with an animal carries a double-edged sword. While we enjoy the unconditional love of our animals, we know that odds are better than good that even if they enjoy a long and healthy life, we will outlive them. We accept this reality and the eventual tide of grief that accompanies it because in the moments between our first reaching out to an animal and when we finally let go, what we receive are riches beyond measure." - Suzanne Clothier, "Bones would rain from the sky"

Much love to you all,
Simon & Tobi
