Diesel system purge

Post by Profister »

I was browsing delicaclub.ru as usually and found a bunch of good reviews on the product shown below. I wonder if anybody has experience with using such products and if it is worth doing it on a Delica. Russians claim smoother engine run and better acceleration as a result.

I used a diesel purge on my old mercedes every 6 months or so, did wonders, but be advised, that wasn't some "fuel additive" you actually disconnected the fuel lines from the tank and put them in to the product instead and ran on that for 15 minutes or so with no diesel in the system.

good for cleaning out accumulated crud.

Yes, I know the drill. I just need a good reason to go for it.

So, I guess nobody is interested. Russian delicaclub.ru is full of recent positive feedbacks on the results: no black smoke under any circumstances any more, engines running quieter, better acceleration. The problem is that I could not find the above product in North America and I have no idea if something else can be used instead.
Here is a Wynn's commercial: http://video.aol.com/video-detail/wynns ... 1897901430 but they make it too complicated (and expensive I guess).
This is how it may look if you DIY:

Sounds like a similiar result to the Alchohol-Meth injection thing.
Still eagerly awaiting the conclusive Mitsu-Maple seal of approval on that one!

Right on! 8-)

now that's exactly the setup I used to use all the time on my mercedes, but I've never seen that stuff in a store around here...
On the delica the hoses aren't as easy to work with as the ones on the benz, but I'm sure it's still a good thing to do periodically.

This is why I posted the question with some references; what is common to other Delica communities is not known to us. I am definitely interested in doing this but I need to find the appropriate product first.
PS. What puzzles me is the fact that all our knowledgeable and mostly outgoing mechanics keep it quite. :-(

I have been looking for similar stuff too and after seeing the pic in oil's reply found this, Lubro Moly Diesel Purge . I looked on another forum and some were saying that you can get this or order it through NAPA. Sound's like something to look into.

If it works like some are saying that would be 8-) .
